Our second spring concert is in a new venue – Rouge River Brewing!

To create a new experience for our jazz fans, we have arranged to hold our second community-based concert of 2018 at the Rouge River Brewing Co. – Markham’s first and only craft brewery. And, it’s a great spot for music!

When:
  • Sunday, March 25 – 4 to 6 p.m. (Note the time change!)

Where:
  • Rouge River Brewery, 50 Bullock Drive, Unit 8, Markham

Brewmaster Jordan Mills and his partners offer a rotating selection of seasonal beers for tasting, sale and consumption on premises. Jordan is the first Canadian to earn the coveted Advanced Cicerone brewer’s designation. Learn more at rougeriverbrewery.com.

Please see important information about the venue below!

Our featured artist is flute phenom and multi-instrumentalist Anh Phung. Anh earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from McGill University in 2012 and has continued to tour, perform and record in several different genres and areas. Anh has won numerous awards throughout her career, notably first place at the Canadian Music Competition and the Galaxy Rising Star Award for two consecutive years at MusicFest Canada. She continues to write, perform as a studio musician and tour with her latest project, HaiRbraIN.

Tickets go quickly for these community shows, so reserve yours now by going online at www.markhamjazzfestival.com or emailing us at contactus@markhamjazzfestival.com. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door (subject to availability).

About the venue

Parking – In addition to a few spots in front of the brewery, there is a large parking area in back.
Food – Patrons can order Rouge River’s charcuterie board or from the pop-up food experience “That Sangweech Truck.” The brewery also allows customers to bring their own snacks.
Beverages – Rouge River has a selection of award-winning beers on tap; red and white wine will also be available
Timing – Instead of our usual time, this event runs from 4 to 6 p.m. The brewery opens at noon, and its house band performs from 2 to 3:30 that day, so come early for a full afternoon of great music! Shortly before 4 p.m. anyone without a ticket will be asked to buy one (if available) or exit when the show starts.

The TD Markham Jazz Festival is a not-for-profit organization with a mandate to enrich cultural life in the region by bringing emerging and established jazz artists to Markham for all to enjoy. Established in 1998, the festival draws more than 25,000 residents and visitors to the streets of Unionville during the third weekend in August. Local and international artists deliver over 30 open-air performances during the weekend as well as in selected “hot spots” and at a ticketed opening-night concert. During the year, the festival hosts “Hot Spot Concerts” at selected venues in Markham. TD Canada Trust became its title sponsor in 2014.
