New study reveals far-reaching benefits of recovery for families of dependent drinkers


New research by the Department of Law and Criminology at Sheffield Hallam University and Adfam, funded by Alcohol Research UK, shows how the recovery journey of a dependent drinker can markedly improve the lives of their families, for as long as recovery is sustained.

The study ‘Understanding recovery from a family perspective: A survey of life in recovery for families’ is the first piece of research of this scale to illustrate the far-reaching impacts of dependent drinking through the lens of family members.

Parliamentarians call for better regulations on alcohol-free labelling


On 7 March, the All Party Parliamentary Group on Alcohol Harm, run by Alcohol Research UK and Alcohol Concern, held an alcohol-free tasting event in Parliament. MPs sampled some of the products on the market while hearing our call for better regulations on the labelling of low alcohol and alcohol-free drinks.
