Sean Baker and Susan Richter present at the National IAEDP Conference
At this year’s iaedp™ Symposium, held on March 22 – 25 at the Omni at ChampionsGate in Orlando, Florida, a series of research presentations outlined key recent advances in learning about signals that go awry in the brains of people who suffer from eating disorders and how to move forward toward successful recovery. More than 70 poster presentations and special networking and social events took place during the 2018 Symposium. Many of the most noted eating disorders experts from around the U.S. and internationally provided the latest treatment and research.

New Beginnings practitioners, Sean Baker, LMFT, SEP and Susan Richter, LMFT, SEP, Certified Eating Disorders Specialist, presented  “Better Brain Function through Movement:  Using Exploratory Movement for Trauma and Eating Disorder Recovery.” Based upon neuroscience research and the work being conducted at The New Beginnings Center, they discussed how exploratory movement, with an emphasis on physical sensation, can bypass the critical thinking brain and its inhibitory reactions. They demonstrated step-by-step techniques for expanding body awareness with ease and somatic techniques to manage PTSD triggers.
Move Better. Feel Better.

Banishing Burnout:
Prevention, Detection, and Restoration
Tuesday, April 3rd at 7pm
Presented by Alison Papion, LMFT

Are you finding yourself feeling increasingly exhausted, ineffectual, overwhelmed and frustrated? Is your tolerance for daily life events decreasing? You may be suffering from burnout. When we combine the emotional tolls of our work to our already stressful daily life events (caring for children, a household, finances, deadlines, etc.) we often find ourselves depleted. It is often easier to focus on the needs of others and overlook our own early warning signals of burnout. We must find ways to keep our heart and soul cups full so we can continue to pour from them.

LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE! To register, please go to: https://tinyurl.com/burnout-event or call (805) 987-3162.
Alison is the IOP Program Director and a private practice LMFT at The New Beginnings Center. She holds a belief that every individual she comes across holds within him/herself the power to heal.
