It's been a few months . . .

Praise the Lord for all He has done since December!
Our church plant, the EGB (Eckstein-Gemeinde Berlin) has been blessed with a lot of growth. Churches in Germany grow very slowly and Berlin is no exception. People are wealthy, have good health care and the majority of people you meet on the street would say they don't believe in God in any way, shape or form. They celebrate their independence and sin like the rest of the sinful world. The growth we have experienced has largely been through many believers now able to attend our church because of the central location. Though rent is more expensive, it has enabled us to reach many fellow believers who didn't have a solid church up until this point. Our church music team has grown, our youth group has grown, our families have grown, singles have met each other, young and not so young couples have joined our church. We have seen a few individuals come to faith through the teaching of the Gospel. We truly have "10,000 reasons for our hearts to sing, bless the Lord, o my soul!"

Shepherds' Conference

In March I had the privilege of attending the annual Shepherds' Conference at Grace Community Church in CA. We had so many encouraging messages and meetings with fellow pastors from around the world. This is also the time when the deans of many of the TMAI training centers meet for stratigic planning and mutual encouragement.  This is a very useful and valuable time.

During this trip I also had the great joy of seeing our son Philip who has served in the USMC the last four years. It was really special to have Philip take me on a tour of Camp Pendleton and explain a lot about his work and his duties. Please keep him in your prayers, he has reenlisted and we are very proud of him.

Martin Manten, Theo Friesen and Christian took a day away in the historic city Potsdam where treaties were signed after WWII by Stalin, Churchill and Truman (just outside of Berlin).  The goals of our meeting were much different though, we met to plan and pray for the future of the EBTC.

Family wedding:

Almost year ago my brother Andreas' wife died of cancer. She and my brother were not believers. Ever since I came to know the Lord my contact with him has been minimal, he and his wife had no desire to have a relationship with our entire family. It has been over 34 years since I became a christian. However, early this year my brother met and married a young Indonesian woman who is a believer. Her faith is not strong (she married my unbelieving brother), and yet she is constantly asking questions and wants to attend church no matter where they are.

My brother asked me to preach at their wedding, he asked for a family Bible and has been in regular contact with me and is asking questions. They even plan on moving to Berlin at some point to be close to our family and come to our church. Sheryl and I have prayed for this opportunity since the very beginning of our marriage. God answers prayer! Please pray for my brother Andreas, his wife Suzanne and stepdaughter Angela, that they will know the Lord as their personal Lord and Savior.

Music Ministry Program

We are currently in our 1st year of the Music Program at the EBTC. This program is for those who actively serve in music at their local church. It is our goal to teach biblical principles and the musical skills to execute these principles, so that the music ministry at the local church can grow and be God honoring.

Please click on the images below to hear from our students and the second to hear from Thomas Hochstetter who is leading the Music Ministry Program.

PLEASE PRAY FOR our upcoming Shepherds' Conference here in Germany to be held May 24th-26th in Wittenberg.
Please pray for our speakers John Glass, Benedikt Peters, Rick Holland and Martin Manten.
Please pray for our EBTC staff and helpers preparing these next weeks.

Family Easter lunch with the family (we missed Philip, of course), Sebastian from our church and Katrina was taking the picture :-)
We spent all of Easter weekend with our church and family. It was such a deep and special time, celebrating our risen Lord!
In our last newsletter I mentioned that we were in need of additional support and we are still in need of $1,000/month. Ministry is growing in all directions and we are very thankful for this need.
Please continue to pray for our church, the EBTC leadership and staff. We are so thankful for your support and we do covet your prayers.
Thank you for your faithfulness in supporting the ministry here and our family.
