Spring gardens

Nothing says Easter and lifts your spirits like a spring garden – and we have some of the very best. Holehird Garden is worth seeking out this time of year and rewards visitors with stunning spring colour. Crocuses and dwarf irises provide a charming and colourful display of spring bulbs. The grouping near the path at the top of the rock garden is particularly worth seeking out.

Plan your visit to one of our Gardens and Forests

Easter openings

It not only the gardens that are ‘waking up’ for the season – as the clocks go forward many of our venues open or extend their opening times – and Easter starts the season.

Brockhole's Spring Trail and Easter Egg Hunt is running from 24 March - 15 April, taking you around the beautiful gardens before you collect a surprise gift at the end!

Easter on a plate

If you want your sweet treats on a plate without the hunting then it’s straight to the tearooms or restaurants for you - where you will find a warm welcome and great food in unparalleled settings.

Some of our restaurants take their cuisine so seriously they merit a visit in their own right. Blackwell Tea Room and Brantwood Terrace are firm favourites as much for their magnificent views as their creative lunch menus. The Ilex Bar & Brasserie is a fresh dining experience set in the opulent surroundings of Holker Hall – perfect for Easter Sunday lunch. And then there’s Askham Hall - the winner of Cumbria Tourism’s most recent ‘Taste Cumbria’ which has just launched its newly-restyled restaurant ‘Allium’ – just in time for Easter!
