Welcome to the March edition of
'On the Blocks'

What a great start MSV clubs and swimmers have had to 2018.
So far we have seen the running of the Malvern Marlins 26 Interclub, the Summer Smash, the last events of the GVSS 2017/18 Season have been held and we saw the Roughies Races Re-match run successfully after a last minute move due to thunder and lightning. Great image from the Re-match as our header image above. We also hear MSV Ambassador Chloe McCardel made a long awaited return to the pool at the Meet.
Great work everyone.

But that is not all!

We have celebrated some extraordinary successes - the Marlins, Linley Frame and Sandy Frame scooping the pool at the VicSport Awards, and George Corones (a Marlins second claimer) who made history by swimming for QTT at the Commonwealth Games Swimming Trials and smashing 2 World Records in the 100 - 104 age group and then be made an honorary 474th member of the 2018 Commonwealth Games team. And speaking of the Commonwealth Games we have loved watching all the MSA members proudly running with the Queens Baton Relay.
Congratulations to our VIN member Liz Gosper and MSV Ambassador Chloë McCardel who ran during the Victorian leg.

If that has not been enough we have also seen MSV Ambassador Linley Frame coaching members of the Australian Invictus Games Team during their 2 training camps at MSAC.

We cannot wait to see what comes next!

MEET RESULTS:
Malvern Marlins Interclub
The annual Marlins Interclub was very well supported as always, with entry numbers reaching the maximum of 120. Well done everyone involved. Checkout some of the great images from the Meet HERE.
Summer Smash
The Summer Smash had over 42 swimmers and by all accounts people had fun. Want to know more about the nitty gritty of holding a Summer Smash - read HERE (Thanks Rosa and Brett)
Roughies Races Re-match
Well they certainly know how to roll with it at the Yarra Roughies. After having to cancel the Inaugural Roughies Races last year the weather decided to not play nice again. The Re-match was quickly moved from Fitzroy Pool to Richmond Pool as thunder and lightning again threatened to create havoc. Even with the move the Meet was well supported and everyone had a great time. Well done Roughies!
Check out some great images from the Meet HERE
Great Victorian Swim Series (GVSS)
Another great Open Water Swim Series has been held. We are excited to congratulate Brunswick Belugas who were the MSV and overall winners of the Series. Read about the Lorne Pier to Pub 2018 swim by the Beulgas HERE
