Welcome back after the Easter holidays!  We hope you have all had a lovely break and enjoyed all the easter egg hunts and chocolates!  We have a fun packed Summer term ahead, please do mark down the dates for your diary and join in the fun!
News
Race Night - Thank you so much for everyone who organised, helped out and came along and supported this event - we can now confirm the total raised from the event was £4,027!!  This is fantastic for the pre-school, it really does all allow us to ensure we offer our children the very best!

Nature & Sensory Developments - Our new garden area is looking a lot fuller, with strawberries, primroses, and sunflowers already planted.  We have some vegetables and flowers to go in over the next couple of weeks.

The new sensory room has been very well received and utilised.  The children have respected the new resources finding it ultra relaxing to chill out and listen to a story (so have the teachers!).

This half term we have some little caterpillars that have arrived.  Over the coming weeks we shall watch them grow and turn into butterflies which will be a magical hands on experience of introducing the topic of "Change".
Forest School - This returns to us for its third year!  It gained fantastic feedback last year and we have decided that this will stay as part out curriculum each year (funds dependent) for older groups in the Friday sessions.  This is an excellent opportunity which we are very happy to be able to share with our children. For more information on Forest School please visit www.forestschoolassociation.org.  If you would like to donate to this initiative and have not done already (older children only), please do let me know or make the donation via the methods previously communicated.

Sunrise Visit - We have had two very successful visits to Sunrise Residential Home in Beaconsfield with our Friday children.  One group created Easter crafts whilst the second group decorated plant pots.  Both groups sang songs and looked at books with the residents, who beamed from ear to ear to see our lovely Pre-School children.

Feedback from Sunrise shows just how valuable they find our visits  "
I’m glad the children enjoyed it.  Our residents did too.  There was a lady from our reminiscence community there and she used to be a head teacher at a school, I have never seen her smile so much, it was lovely to see.  One of the little girls when she went, she hugged Sheila and gave her a kiss on the cheeks, I couldn’t hold back the tears, it really pulled at my heart strings."

We hope all the Friday children will go on one more visit this term before they leave...watch this space.
Additional Sessions - You can now sign up for ad hoc additional sessions and ad hoc lunch club in advance. We hope that this will be helpful. The current weekly paper sign up sheet will remain on the noticeboard so please use that to sign up for any ad hoc sessions or lunch clubs for that particular week.  Should you wish to book further in advance please contact Hannah French who will check availability and book you in.

Please note the following:
- if you wish to cancel your ad hoc session or ad hoc lunch club please provide Hannah with 24 hours notice as otherwise you will still be charged for it
- these will be charged for in arrears and you will not be able to use any funded hours to pay for them
- we currently have availability for lunch club on Monday-Thursday
- we currently only have Wednesday morning (08:50-12:10) available as an additional session. Should any more come up I will email out all parents so they are aware.

Staff Update - We have said farewell to Paige who has increased her swimming instructor hours and therefore was unable to commit fully to the pre-school.
Parent Survey - Thank you again for your participation in the parent survey this year, it was lovely to hear all your views and also give us opportunity to improve areas you have highlighted.  The feedback was circulated before the Easter holidays however if you didn't get chance to read it please do feel free to access it here.
Requests to Parents
Sun Hats - With the warmer weather heading our way please can you make sure your child had a named sun hat with them at pre-school and that sun-cream is applied before they come to pre-school.  For children attending all day either apply the 8 hour protection sun cream or bring in a named bottle of sun-cream so that staff can apply it at lunchtime.  This will only apply on the days that your child comes in for a full day.
Any spare clothes? Our spare clothes stock is looking rather diminished, as summer approaches it brings with it increased water play so we can never have enough spare clothes.  If you have any old clothes, trousers, tops, skirts etc. that your child has grown out of we would greatly appreciate them.

It would also be a good idea to check the spare clothes on your child's peg to make sure the clothing is appropriate for the season and that the clothes still fit.
Parking - Unless there are extenuating circumstances, it is NOT possible to use the school drive or park outside the Pre-School.  This is for the safety of all the children.  Please use School Lane for drop offs and pick-ups. We do however encourage parents and carers to walk to Pre-School when possible.

Please be considerate and safe when parking.  The Highway code clearly states that:

1)     You must not park near a school entrance.
2)     You must not park on the yellow zig zags outside the school.
3)     You must not park opposite or within the 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction except in an authorised parking space.  This includes the junction of Stable Lane and School Lane.  Parking on the corner severely limits the visibility of both pedestrians and drivers at the junction.

If you happen to be parked outside Pre-School, particularly in the afternoon, you will need to wait until the older children are out of school and have left the area before attempting to reverse/drive out.

If parking is essential, please REVERSE into parking spaces.  As drivers we must all appreciate how hard it is to see toddlers when reversing and they are around cars.

Please can parents be responsible for informing relatives/childminders etc of our policy on parking.

Bag2School - In mid May we will pop a Bag2School envelope in your post pocket.  Please can you fill with an old clothes etc over the half term break and then return to us on the 19th June.  Don't worry we will also send a reminder nearer the time.
Early Years Advisor
As part of our ongoing commitment to staff professional development, a number of staff have recently visited other settings or have visits planned.  We have also invited other Early Years practitioners to visit us at Seer Green Pre-School.  To see more about what we learnt please click here.
