Lady of the Lantern Coloring Book
Ella Yates has published the Lady of the Lantern Highlighter Colouring Book. It has 107 pages, including 52 drawings to colour and over 70 thought treasures to contemplate. It includes Nano prayers and songs, Irish blessings, and other poems or excerpts. There is even a flip-book of Nano in Cork!

According to Ella, "My hope is for that Lady of the Lantern will be a colourful little way to help celebrate the tercentenary of the birth of Nano. It is meant to be used as a notebook, a book to be marked up and coloured in, to dress in tea and coffee stains and folded corners, to tear pages out of and give away."

You can buy a copy on Amazon for $12.33. Ten percent of sales will send quality art supplies to Presentation School students around the world.

Valentine Cookies for the Homeless
“Don’t forget my friend on the doorstep.” This is what one homeless person said as a Valentine cookie was received last year.

This year on February 11, 2018, 19 volunteers gathered at the motherhouse in San Francisco. The volunteers were sisters and graduates from Presentation High School. Our motherhouse sisters, including those on walkers and sisters from our local houses, joined the 1976 graduates to decorate cookies. As the frosting and small candies were creatively placed on the heart-shaped cookies, the volunteers spoke of their experience.

After the cookies were put into bags, some of the volunteers drove to San Francisco’s Tenderloin District and gave them to many smiling individuals. Some of the homeless expressed their gratitude by saying, “God bless you!”

Tim Mathern Presents at Sacred Heart Convent in Fargo
Sisters, associates and other members of the general public attended a presentation by Tim Mathern at Sacred Heart Convent, Fargo on March 8, 2018. The title of the discourse, “Let’s Talk About Politics and Religion at Easter Dinner,” described the thesis of the presentation and ensuing discussion—the common good requires that we talk about the intersection of faith and civil policy with family and friends.  Tim believes the principles of Catholic social teaching should permeate all aspects of our lives. The practice of civil discourse with family and friends prepares one for influencing public policy.

Tim is director of public policy at Prairie St. John’s Hospital. He chairs the governing board of a local food co-op and is a member of Nativity Church. Tim has been a state senator since 1986 and was a recipient of the Nano Nagle Award in 1995.  He is pictured with Sister Stella Olson, local leader of Sacred Heart Convent. Stella and Tim are former neighbors and friends for over 30 years.

Aberdeen Congregation Celebrates National Catholic Sisters Week
The Aberdeen Presentation Sisters began National Catholic Sisters Week with our Presentation family hosting a booth at our Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours nonprofit night. In celebration of the anniversary of the birth of Nano, we wore our “Not Words, but Deeds” shirts to the event. We received numerous compliments on our shirts and even gave some away as door prizes to a few lucky winners.

Also, in celebration of National Catholic Sisters Week, we visited over 100 of our partners to show our appreciation of their support. This provided us with the opportunity to share a variety of gifts, information and stories about Nano. Our visits were well received and it was so fun to see the smiles on everyone’s faces as the spark of Nano and love for the Presentation Sisters is shared!
