Washington, DC Carbon Fee & Rebate Webinar Invitation

CCS Evaluates Job and Business Impacts of Carbon Pricing Approaches

WASHINGTON, DC. On March 21st, CCS will deliver a webinar with results of macroeconomic testing of a carbon price program for the District of Columbia (DC) through a fee and rebate system. CCS is supporting a coalition of DC organizations and its government with expert design and evaluation of a carbon-pricing approach that would drive significant reductions of greenhouse gas emissions, preserve the DC economy, avoid impacts to disadvantaged communities, and add jobs.  Key Councilmembers have announced support for pricing carbon and intend to introduce a bill in 2018.

The webinar will be hosted by Regional Economic Models, Inc. (REMI), the provider of the macroeconomics software used by CCS and many others in public policy analysis for energy, climate change, and economic development issues. CCS will summarize the DC carbon pricing policy development process and our use of REMI to guide creation of a policy proposal for elected officials and stakeholders from business, environment, and other communities. It is part of an emerging wave of states and localities looking closely at carbon pricing to support climate change and green-investment goals.

To register for the webinar at 2pm on March 21, please contact Alexander Arthen-Cheyne at REMI at alexander.arthen-cheyne@remi.com.

The full CCS DC carbon pricing macroeconomic report is available on the CCS website.
