Lutz Preparatory School K-8 NEWSFLASH, V6 Issue 35, March 23, 2018
A Note from Administration
Dear Lutz Prep Families,

When asked, opinions may differ on what skills are the most important skills to be successful.  Google, the $75 billion multinational tech company, recently was awarded #1 on Fortune’s Best Places to Work list for the sixth consecutive year!  So it stands to reason that Google may know a thing or two that helps promote successful skills.

Through research, the company discovered critical findings to help pinpoint what type of leadership contributed to success.  Our initiative, focusing on the 7 Habits and Leadership Skills, leading students to success is echoed in this published article.

Please take a moment to read the following article and see how Lutz Prep and Google share a common vision on the importance of soft skills to be a lifelong learner.

Thank you for your continued partnership,

Bonnie Guertin
Director, Lutz Preparatory School

Great Kindness Challenge
On behalf of our 5th grade parent committee, we would love for our students at Lutz Preparatory to participate in the Great Kindness Challenge, where thousands of schools across the country join together to create a culture of kindness.  We missed the deadline for 2018, but we are registered for 2019!!  We don't want to miss out on an opportunity to show our children random acts of kindness.  We want to teach our kids about empathy and compassion for others.  Let's build up all of our LP students self esteem!  The 5th Grade Committee is creating a "Be Kind" atmosphere and we are going to "Pay It Forward".  Please join us in celebrating random acts of kindness. Let's show the community what Lutz Prep is made of!

We will have a "Pay It Forward" Tree in the lobby during the month of April.  Students are encouraged to add a leaf (or more) to our tree every time they perform a random act of kindness.  Parents can send in kindness quotes and random acts of kindness via their student to add to the tree.  Lets fill up our lobby and hallways!

In addition to our LP tree, we are also selling "Be Kind" T-shirts for $10.  Deadline to purchase the T-shirts has been extended to Wednesday, March 28, 2018.  Anyone in preschool and K-8 may purchase them!   They are available for all sizes and ages.  The "Be Kind" shirts can be work on Spirit Shirt Days.  These wonderful shirts are 100% cotton, charcoal gray with white lettering.  Click HERE to print an order for that may be turned in to the front office or your child's teacher and address to:  Be Kind, 5th Grade

For any questions please contact 5th grade parent representative, Carrie Homer.

"How do we change the world?  One Random act of kindness at a time."
"Be the reason someone believes in the goodness of people."

Thank you for much for your help and support,

Florida Standards Assessment Portal
The FSA portal is your source for information about the Florida Standards Assessments.

Florida’s K-12 assessment system measures students’ achievement of Florida’s education standards, which were developed and implemented to ensure that all students graduate from high school ready for success in college, career, and life.  Assessment supports instruction and student learning, and test results help Florida’s educational leadership and stakeholders determine whether the goals of the education system are being met.  Please click HERE to visit the Florida Department of Education FSA Portal.

Florida Standards Assessments
As we have begun the second part of the school year, we want to inform you of some key information regarding the upcoming spring assessments. Below you will find tentative testing dates for the grade levels and their respective assessments.  Please be aware that these dates are provided within testing “windows”, and they can change based on various factors.  State and district changes, unforeseen technology issues, and internal scheduling at Lutz Prep all can play a factor in altering testing dates and times.  While we make every attempt to communicate with families, teachers, and our students in order to be best prepared, we appreciate your flexibility and patience during this time. In addition, please note that during testing windows, we will be a ‘closed campus’ and no volunteering is available.

Please click HERE visit the Academics\Assessment tab of our website for the testing dates.
