One can't appreciate 20th century art without understanding the significance and genius of Paul Cézanne. Featuring interviews with curators and experts from the National Portrait Gallery London, MoMA New York, National Gallery of Art Washington, and Musée d'Orsay Paris, and correspondence from the artist himself, the film takes audiences beyond the exhibition to the places Cézanne lived and worked and sheds light on an artist who is perhaps the least known of all the impressionists - until now.

Austrian actress Hedy Lamarr fled an oppressive marriage to create a name for herself as one of Hollywood's top leading ladies in the 1940s. Behind the glamour and sex appeal, though, was a talented and inquisitive inventor who created a radio system that is now considered the basis of Bluetooth technology.
Twenty-eight independent theaters in 25 states will participate in the National Evening of Science on Screen event, each hosting a program pairing a scientific lecture with a screening of a feature or documentary film. We'll be joined for a post-screening discussion by Drs. Jessica Vitak and Christina Walter of University of Maryland, College Park.
The purpose of the evening? To celebrate using one of the nation’s favorite pastimes—going to the movies—to promote public understanding of science.
Guest Speakers (from left to right):
Jandelyn Plane, PhD
Dr. Jan is the Director of the Maryland Center for Women in Computing, and Associate-Director of ACES (the first undergraduate cybersecurity honors program). She has been a faculty member in UMD's Computer Science Department since 1990. For 15 years of those years, she also worked on university computer science capacity building projects in sub-Saharan Africa and Afghanistan. She holds graduate degrees in both computer science and education; her work focuses on computer science education - curriculum development, pedagogical methods and underrepresented populations in computing.
Christina Walter, PhD
Christina Walter is the Program Coordinator for the Graduate Certificate in Critical Theory and the related Theory Colloquium, and the Director of Undergraduate Studies at University of Maryland. She specializes in post-1900 British and Anglophone literature and visual culture and in the intersections of science, technology, and aesthetics in the modernist period.
Jessica Vitak, PhD
Jessica Vitak is an assistant professor in the College of Information Studies and an affiliate professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Maryland. She holds a B.A. in Communication and Journalism from Elon University, a M.A. in Communication, Culture & Technology from Georgetown University, and a Ph.D. in Media & Information Studies from Michigan State. Her research evaluates the benefits and drawbacks of mediated communication by focusing on the role that social and technical affordances shape interactions online.
The National Evening of Science on Screen is the annual showcase event of the nationwide Science on Screen grant initiative, which is funded by the Sloan Foundation and administered by the Coolidge Corner Theatre.

Storytime On Screen is a completely FREE event held from 10:30 – 11:30 AM the 2nd and 4th Mondays of every month in partnership with the Prince George's County Memorial Library Service. Each Storytime on Screen includes a story, a short movie, and a craft.

POSTPONED: Barry Polisar - Live
On Saturday, March 24 at 11:00am we were planning to host beloved children's musician Barry Polisar. Mr. Polisar did not want his performance to discourage anyone from attending the March for Our Lives rally organized by the students from Parkland, Florida's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School which is occurring at the same time. Therefore we have mutually agreed to postpone this event until a new date can be found.

 Coming Soon: ANGST - Anxiety Documentary Screening - FREE!

Free movie for students and parents!
Featuring Olympian Michael Phelps, this movie aims to raise awareness about anxiety in children and teens. This topic is timely since students will begin PARCC testing the following week and because schools have seen an increase in bullying over the past few years. Following the movie a brief discussion will be lead by Gretchen Schock, Owner of Bee Yoga Fusion, and Donna Behe, PGCPS Guidance Counselor, where students can ask questions and gain access to additional resources. Whether you think you suffer from anxiety or would just like to learn more, everyone is welcome to attend. The Old Greenbelt Theatre will also offer a small popcorn for $1.50! Run time is 55 minutes; appropriate for ages 10 and up.

In Alfred Hitchcock's adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's thriller, tennis star Guy Haines (Farley Granger) is enraged by his trampy wife's refusal to finalize their divorce so he can wed senator's daughter Anne (Ruth Roman). He strikes up a conversation with a stranger, Bruno Anthony (Robert Walker), and unwittingly sets in motion a deadly chain of events. Psychopathic Bruno kills Guy's wife, then urges Guy to reciprocate by killing Bruno's father. Meanwhile, Guy is murder suspect number one.
