News: Dr. Carma Corcoran spoke at a Diversity Dialogues event about the incarceration of native peoples and the need to heal from a history of genocide.


This Thursday, ASUP is hosting a speech night at 7 p.m. on the quiet side of The Commons for executive board candidates to present their platforms.

Robert Johnson Patterson, an apparently homeless man, set up a tent near the Student Led Community Garden (SLUG). Public Safety issued Patterson a trespass warning and asks if anyone sees him to contact them immediately.


In other news, nine professors have been granted tenure. The professors sat down with The Beacon to talk about what UP and tenure means to them.

The wait is over. President Fr. Poorman has announced the new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) will be Herbert A. Medina. Medina, who previously worked at Loyola Marymount University, will begin working at UP in July.


Tuition will rise 4.3 percent for the 2018-19 school year, bringing the cost of attendance up to $58,408.

Living: UP students are investing in cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin, in hopes of multiplying on their initial investments. However, unlike the dollar, cryptocurrencies are not tied in value to the federal reserve and fluctuate in value based on demand.
