Digital Dental Academy:
3D Printing Party!

23rd and 24th March - London

15th and 16th June - Manchester

Dental 3D Printing Party with August de Oliveira

3D printing is the hottest thing now in technology in general and is taking over dentistry. Intra Oral scanners have been around for a while, but only recently have 3D printers become affordable and accurate enough for dentistry. In Office Dental 3D printers can range in price from $220 to $25,000 and have resolutions ranging from 300 to 20 microns.

But which do you choose? What types of resins can be used in dentistry? How can I make my own aligners, surgical guides, temporaries and models?

In this one of a kind, hands on course, Doctors
and their team will get two days of hands on
training using 3 different kinds of 3D printers,
with the objective of giving them the knowledge
they need to purchase the right printer and
implement it in their practices. Printers will range
from FDM (low cost usually just for Implant
Surgical Guides), SLA (Form 2, good for ortho aligner models and guides), and DLP (Good for guides, aligner models, night guards, temporaries and dies). Students will get to use free software, such as Meshmixer, to prepare models to be printed, to fabricate temporaries, minor ortho, and wax ups.

We will go over, paid orthodontic services that allow you to deliver aligner therapy to your patients for under $200 a case with two refinements! Doctors and their team will get a chance to load, maintain and use up to 5 different printers, and use various vacuforming machines and make aligners.

Course Schedule;

Day 1;

Learn techniques to efficiently and successfully incorporate 3D printing in your office.
On day one we will focus mainly on using free software, such as Meshmixer, to modify models to print. We will also cover general techniques to 3D scan your patients to help in the eventual accuracy of the 3D print. Doctors will use the CEL Robox printer to make surgical guides, and later in the day, use the Form 2 printer to print a model we will later use to design and manufac- ture low cost orthodontic aligners.

Day 2;

On day two we will dive into DLP printers such as the Envisiontec Vida and the Sprintray Moonray to design and print night guards as well as models you could use for crown and bridge dies. Later in the day, we will go over how to submit a case to Exceed Ortho, an aligner design company that will allow you to print your own aligner models and manufacture up to 50 aligners for around $200 with two refinements. Vacuform and Pressure forming machines will be provided for hands on aligner fabrication. Finally Dr de Oliveira will cover advanced uses of software and 3D printing.
