SUPPORTING YOUNG PEOPLE

In the wake of the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, young people are speaking out, planning walkouts, joining protests, and demanding change.

March 14th was the #Enough National School Walkout where thousands of young people walked out of class for 17 minutes in honor of the 17 victims, on March 24th students, educators, and parents will join the March for Our Lives and April 20th is the National School Walkout against gun violence.

At Cultures of Dignity, we are feeling energized and proud to watch these young people speak up to share their voice loudly. But we recognize the complex dynamics around deciding whether or not to join a protest and how hard it can be to stand up for your decision.

Below, Rosalind Wiseman discusses the importance of treating everyone with dignity whether or not they decide to join a protest and how to respond to people who may pushback or dismiss you. Please share with young people in your life.

JOIN THE PARENT SHIFT

We are very excited to be apart of The Parent Shift! It’s a free Master Class series featuring interviews with some of the world’s leading parenting experts, researchers, and our favorite colleagues giving parenting solutions you can easily implement.

Here’s a peek at what we’ll cover:

  • Managing moments of conflict (for you and your kid!).
  • When to get involved + when to let your kids find solutions.
  • What to do with technology in your child’s life.
  • What should you really focus on in your child’s learning?
  • Those sibling conflicts, when should you step in.
  • Helping your child navigate social struggles.

Each interview is specifically designed to be short and specific. Think of having a cup of coffee with some of the greatest minds in today’s research and therapy - the true changemakers for families.

Rosalind's interview will air April 12th!
