NEW GREEN SPACES AWAIT

We have two re-imagined areas for your delectation this year...

A village of tipis, benders and other low-impact dwellings around a central fire, the Sacred Activist Sanctuary will be a space for learning, reflection, action and recuperation. A community vibe and welcoming hearth await visitors - along with the chance to get involved in sacred, creative activism in defence of our wild spaces. Sing with trees, grieve for lost species, celebrate nature's bounty and cycles. Learn how to tread lightly on the earth and to protect the commons - land, air, water - that belong to us all.

Check the festival programme to discover when Andrew Boyd's Twelve Characters in Search of an Apocalypse will be performed in the Sanctuary.

The Wildwood Faerie Glade is delving deeper into the woods than ever before - with elemental gardens, a faerie city, unicorn stables, bardic fire, wood crafts and secret spaces galore! Enter from the Village Green (via the Serendipity Dome and Wise Old Oak), or by following the path through our Permaculture community...

The Faerie Glade curators are seeking aspiring artists with a feel for the wildwood, a flare for the elements and a love of Faerie folk to help them create this magical space - email wildwood@greengathering.org.uk before April 21st for a chance to join them!

GREEN EVENTS & INNOVATIONS

The Green Gathering received our Outstanding Award from A Greener Festival at the Green Events & Innovations (GEI) conference earlier this month.

Also at GEI, GG festival director Shane Collins introduced the day with a run-down on climate change - where we're at and what we must do to combat the worst effects before it's too late - as part of a session on the growing climate justice movement and how events are supporting it.

Festival action must be two-fold: reduce the carbon emissions directly attributable to the event, and use the platform to educate, enlighten and inspire festival-goers. The GEI conference has doubled in size in only two years, with events increasingly recognising the need to get involved in climate awareness and climate justice. In next month's news we'll be sharing info on what action GG is taking this year.

RECOMMENDED BY FESTIVAL KIDZ

Festival Kidz is a well-estabished collective of festival-loving families who do the hard work of testing festies for their family-friendly credentials. We're very pleased to share the news that GG has received their stamp of approval!

TIPI & TENT HIRE

Black Dog Tipis are back this year: you can hire a beautiful handmade Tipi made from high quality materials complete with inner liner, full weather protection, groundsheet and matting. In two sizes and with luxury (furnished) or regular (BYO sleeping gear) versions, this is an authentic way to camp in style without carrying it all on your back!

Camplight Pre-Pitched Tents are another great travel-light option. The Camplight crew upcycles tents to a high standard, pitches for you, and creates a cosy community vibe in the camping area. They also hire out bedding & other camping paraphernalia, and are offering
earlybird prices - 10% reduction, valid until April 1st - if you type “tweet tweet" into the coupon box on the Camplight checkout page.

The Green Gathering is a festival and an education, an interactive showcase of renewable energy and off grid solutions... all powered by wind, sun and people.

It's a festival beyond hedonism, for people who love the earth enough to want to celebrate and save it. It's a place to party - then wake up and put the world to rights!

Authentically uncommercial and family friendly, our aim is to turn people on to low impact living, community building, co-operation and positive sustainable solutions.

The festival is produced by a Community Interest Company, and commissioned by the Green Gathering Charity which aims to keep the spirit of the Gatherings true, while educating for sustainability and  empowering us to create a better future. The GG Charity
