Hola <<First Name>>,
In between travels, I’ve found a few spare minutes to send an update. Last weekend, I went to Tulum for the wedding of two friends. The traditional Mayan ceremony was breathtaking, and the celebration was incredible, as is to be expected in a tropical paradise like Tulum. But during the trip, I found myself more connected to nature; more aware of how little time I spend with it in New York City. Of course, I’ve chosen to write about that in this week’s essay.
This revelation comes at an interesting time. In three weeks, I’ll be permanently relocating to Arkansas for my husband’s new job. That’s right—trading in bustling, shiny Manhattan for a little bit of Southern twang and hospitality in Bentonville. This weekend, I’m flying down to look for houses.
Tulum-New York-Bentonville. What a contrast.
In the last couple weeks, I’ve thought a lot about the ways we’re affected by the places in which we live. How our locations determine our way of life, our energy, our successes and failures. I’m hopeful about my big change. Something tells me great things are in store down South.
Take a few minutes to transport to Tulum. I hope it leads you to think about your connection to nature, and also your connection to the places you in which you live and vacation.
