A message from the Chair...

Well here we are rolling along deeper into 2018 and Autumn is upon us. The new Committee of Management Members are getting to know each other and developing a deeper understanding of The Growing Abundance Project in terms of both its history and future possibilities. We are very fortunate to have the stewardship of previous Committee Members Janet, Frances and John, as they provide valuable insights and a strong link to the previous management.

We acknowledge with deep gratitude the enormous investment, both economic and social, made towards Growing Abundance over the years...read more >>

Harvest 2018

HARVEST 2018 is swinging, not quite in full swing, but we are getting there! We've had two picks this season, both out in Harcourt – highlights were the juicy Nashi’s being back in the Orchard at the foot of Mt Alexander, and Pip the pig!

In its 7th year now, the Harvest Project is a big part of our community and with the threat of fruit fly getting closer we realise that maintaining our Harvest Project is more important than ever. Seasonal Feast at the Hub Plot

Homemade sauerkraut, zucchini soup, garden tomato bruschetta, quiche (more veg than egg!) and more made up the fabulous feast at our Seasonal Hub Plot lunch in early March. With beautiful sunny weather on our side, the lunch was attended by a large group of Hub Plotter folks and friends, although there was talk of a “rain-dance” to bring some relief to dry gardens around the area. Many thanks goes out to Heather and her team for organising this terrific event, always a great way to come together, enjoy some amazing food and add extra energy to the Hub Plot. See you there for the next one! In the meantime, feel free to drop in at the Hub Plot on Mondays from 9am to say hi read more >>

Volunteers welcome at
Castlemaine Community Kitchen Garden

Since September, Castlemaine permaculture design course graduate and keen gardener David Beaty has been leading a new initiative to tend the 16 beds at Castlemaine Community Kitchen Garden and upgrade its watering systems. "It's a really wonderful plot nestled in the centre of town," David said. "Its potential for people and produce is enormous." Volunteers are welcome anytime, but Wednesday mornings are the best day for new volunteers to drop in. We’d love to see some new faces around the plot. You’ll be greeted with a smile read more >>
