Chrysler Cars 4 Classrooms Event at Field Day
High Importance – Campus Safety: Building Access Beginning 3/19/18

Dear Lutz Prep Families,

The aftermath of the recent school shootings in Parkland has reminded all of us of the fragile nature of life.  We stand with them and want to strengthen our campus with some further changes during high traffic times.

After further consultation and careful consideration in continuing to assess our procedures, we are implementing changes to further secure our school’s campus.

These changes are effective immediately and are not subject to change to ensure we are providing and maintaining a safe and secure learning environment:
  • Arrival & Dismissal Times = Student Entry Only in the building(s)
    • No entry by parents/chaperones into student hallways or classrooms during arrival or dismissal; sorry no exceptions
    • No entry by parents/chaperones into lobby during arrival or dismissal; sorry no exceptions
      • ARRIVAL: parents/chaperones dropping off at arrival may extend warm wishes to students for the day outside or from their vehicles
      • DISMISSAL: parents/chaperones will be asked to wait in parking lot until carline is complete (approximately 3:30) before entry to lobby if forgotten/missing car tag or other reasons impacting their ability to remain in standard carline dismissal procedures

**Please note that with further consultation and consideration, we may implement additional changes in the near future.**

Again, the above changes are effective immediately so families are aware when school resumes after Spring Break on Monday, March 19, 2018.  Should you have questions, we’ve included a Q & A for families to review for Lutz Prep and Pre-Prep for your convenience.

We recognize that change can be difficult and challenging however, we are in support of providing the safest and most secure environment for our students, staff, and families.

Thank you for your continuous support in making our school campus safe!

Please click HERE to review the Q&A document that will assist with the most common questions.

School-Wide Community Service Project
FINAL DAY TO DONATE
Drop off donations in the front office collection bins by end of school day

Did you know that every two minutes a child is removed from his or her home due to abuse or neglect?
PROVIDING DIGNITY AND HOPE. When children are removed from abusive or neglectful homes they often have inadequate, dirty or stained clothing, and little else.  They carry their few belongings in a trash bag.  Eckerd Raising Hope serves over 3,000 kids of all ages each year. When a child enters a ROOM OF HOPE they discover a cheerful, store-like room where they can “shop” for clothes, toiletries, shoes, school uniforms, comfort items and more. Plus, each child is given a brand new duffle bag to carry their belongings. This year's Lutz Prep community service project is to support Eckerd Raising Hope by collecting much-needed toiletries, undergarments and duffel bags for its ROOM OF HOPE.  Click HERE for all the details and the donation wish list.

PTA Sponsored All Pro Dad Meeting
Hey Dads and Kids...Spring Break is upon us and the days are ticking away before summer finally arrives.  Take this opportunity to join us for March's Lutz Prep/Lutz Pre-Prep All Pro Dad - Dad’s and Kid’s Breakfast.

This month's topic is "Sportsmanship".  Big Idea: Most of us have faced losing a game of some kind.  But it’s likely you’ve won something along the way too.  It’s important to remember that regardless of whether you win or lose, it’s all about your perspective of the situation.  Encouragement, humility, and respect all go into good sportsmanship before, during, or after anything we hope to do well.  Winning OR losing are two things we must learn to deal with positively and respectfully.  Ultimately, sportsmanship is all about having a positive outlook when you lose, and an encouraging attitude when you win.

Team up with other Lutz Prep dads and kids for a quick before-school breakfast.  Doors open at 7:00 AM on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.  The program starts at 7:15 and ends at 7:45. It’s fun and it’s free.  You and your kids will be glad you came!  Great way to start the morning.  Email Ryan Martin with any questions.

All PTA members are invited to attend the next general assembly meeting to vote on the Nominating Committee for the 2018-19 school year.  Meeting will begin at 8:15 AM in the main building cafeteria on Thursday, March 22, 2018.

Mrs. Miller's Class Sharpens the Saw:
Leader in Me Habit #7:  Found meaningful ways to help people (soul).

To help our 1st graders learn about community service and helping others, Mrs. Miller's class gathered 147 children's books and donated them to the High Risk Hope "Books For Babies" project.  This philanthropy puts together care packages for both expecting mothers who are put on bed rest and hospitalized and for parents with premature babies in the ICU.  Studies have shown that reading to premature infants can help with speech and language delays.

Florida Standards Assessment Portal
The FSA portal is your source for information about the Florida Standards Assessments.

Florida’s K-12 assessment system measures students’ achievement of Florida’s education standards, which were developed and implemented to ensure that all students graduate from high school ready for success in college, career, and life.  Assessment supports instruction and student learning, and test results help Florida’s educational leadership and stakeholders determine whether the goals of the education system are being met.  Please click HERE to visit the Florida Department of Education FSA Portal.
