Together, we have spent the last five weeks journeying through the wilderness with Jesus, reflecting on the ways in which our human nature can sometimes leave us feeling separated from God. But the good news is: nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ.  Although the amazing grace and love of God in Christ may seem foolish at times according to the standards of our society, it's not foolish at all according to the standards of the One who created each of us and knows us by name.  This Sunday in worship, we will experience Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.  Then we will journey through Holy Week all the way to the cross on Friday night before we celebrate the resurrection on Easter morning.  I encourage you to join us in each of our worship experiences and not only Easter morning. You have to go to the cross in order to truly appreciate the great gift that comes with the resurrection.

Blessings,

Pastor Malinda

T-minus 8 days and counting ...

Wow!!! When we ask, you respond! We are overflowing (in a GREAT way) with empty Easter Eggs. If you have already purchased more to donate then we will take them ... but if not, please consider focusing your efforts on donating individually wrapped candy. You can drop off donations in the main office during the week or with Randi Turner on Sunday mornings. We need donations no later than this Sunday, March 25th.

Also if you on plan on attending the Egg Hunt please RSVP by clicking here so we know approximately how many kids to plan for.  Please be sure to include the children's ages and names.

If you have any questions concerning the Egg Hunt please contact Randi Turner (205.410.2216 or rturner@avonumc.net).

This event is for adults and children of all ages.  We'll have games, treats, and good conversation. Come enjoy time with your church family.

Roof Update
Roofing Company Chosen &
Closing in on Our Financial Goal

Our Trustees have officially chosen a company to re-roof the church ... Hinkle Roofing.  The new slate will arrive the first week of June, and the re-roofing of the church is scheduled to begin June 11.

In the meantime, we've received some substantial donations over the last two days that have pushed us closer to having all the money in hand before the roofing begins.  We are now only $13,000 away from making that happen.  Can you help us reach our goal?  Remember, no gift is too small.  To donate online, click here and make sure to designate your gift for the roof by clicking "Capital Improvements/Bridge Campaign."  You can also donate by mailing a check or dropping it in the offering plate on Sunday.  Thank you for helping us raise the roof!!
