Did you know the Havurah observes seven days of Passover? Join us for services for the First Day of Passover (and Shabbat!) Saturday March 31 at 11:00 AM. Note, we're starting an hour later than usual for Shabbat in case you were up late at a seder! And come back for services for the Seventh Day of Passover on April 6 at 10:00 AM, including Yizkor (the Memorial Service).
Yom HaShoah
Havurat Shalom will observe Holocaust Remembrance Day with a Zikaron baSalon on April 11 at 7:30 pm. This will be a discussion about the Holocaust facilitated by a Havurah member. We hope you will join us to share and to learn.
Learn to bake challah! Havurah member Ruth Abrams, a regular provider of Shabbat challot to Havurah meals, is teaching this class. Cost: $55.00.
The Havurah participated in Yad Chessed's Purim tzedakah program again this year. Yad Chessed provides food assistance and other aid to Jewish families in need. On Purim we raised $402.00 for Yad Chessed and $461.00 for the family of a Havurah member who just died. Many thanks to all who contributed! If you missed this opportunity, the Havurah's tzedakah fund welcomes your donation at any time.
All Havurah alumnae and alumni are encouraged to attend the Havurah's 50th reunion! It will be Memorial Day weekend, May 25 - 28, at Camp Isabella Friedman in Connecticut. Registration is now open. To register, see the schedule full of wonderful davening and fascinating discussions, or for more info, contact us.
Havurat Shalom is an organizational member of the local time bank, the Time Trade Circle. If you want to learn about time banking, or want to join TTC, come to an orientation Sunday April 8 at 5 pm. If you like what you hear, stay for the annual meeting at 6:00!
We have Shabbat services Saturday mornings at 10:00 and some Fridays. See April Events for details.
We have one potluck meal this month, dinner after services on Friday April 20. The potluck is truly pot luck - no arranging of dishes in advance. Feel free to bring anything dairy (or pareve) to this vegetarian meal. Please note there is not a potluck on Saturday April 7 due to Passover.
The first floor of Havurat Shalom is wheelchair accessible, including the prayer room, living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom.
For the health and comfort of those with allergies, asthma and chemical sensitivities, we ask that you not wear perfume, cologne or aftershave to the Havurah.
The bathrooms are all-gender.
There are older and younger children's play rooms on the 2nd floor, as well as a playset in the back yard.
