Please check lost property every day. The box is outside the Angelfish Classroom.

SECURITY GATE SYSTEM

For your child’s safety, please note that we have a gate security system. It involves a fingerprint entrance device and we ask each new parent to please have their fingerprint registered into the system, as well as any grandparents who frequently fetch the children. You need to do this with Jane in the office. Jane has a control device, to let in visitors.
Please use the bell, a button on the left hand side, in the little box at the gate if you have not registered your fingerprint yet. Cards will be issued to those whose fingerprints do not register properly.
PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU CLOSE BOTH GATES WHEN ENTERING AND LEAVING THE SCHOOL FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILDREN!

SCHOOL FEES

Please note that March School Fees are now overdue. Statements have been sent to you via email or placed in your child’s message pockets.
Please be sure that you have returned your signed fees commitment form to Jane in the office. We keep this on file and it is a commitment to pay your school fees.
Please note we are an Independent school and rely heavily on School Fees to pay teacher's salaries and the upkeep of the school. We only receive a small subsidy from the WCED for our Grade R children.

Well done to all the dads who braved the wind and slept over for the Dad's Camp Out. It is such a special thing to do and something your children will always remember. A few fathers came for the braai and then left which is also great because the aim is to do something special with dad.
I can't believe the term is almost over. It has been a lovely term and I've enjoyed getting to know all the children and all of you. I am so proud at how well the children are working in their groups and at the various activities. They are very good at tidying up their tables and packing the creative tools away. I am also delighted with the progress they are making in learning and recalling the various maths concepts.
Please remember send Easter eggs, bunnies or chicks for our Easter hampers. Each class has their own hamper so remember to take a raffle ticket. We also collect marshmallow eggs for The Rainbow School so please support them.
The children enjoyed learning about the bones and joints in their bodies and about the various organs and their function. This week we will discuss families so please remember to send family photos and a photo of your child as a baby. In maths we will be discussing handling data and recording it on a graph. The children will be given various shapes and will sort them out and then record how many shapes they have. We will create a group graph representing the number of people in a family. The children will help to colour the graph and we will then discuss it by comparing how many children have 4 people in the family or 6 people in the family etc. We will also recap the concept of more, less and equal.
Thank you so much for sending so many things in for the Language Table. The children love grouping all the things together and working out how many different things were brought in and also enjoy identifying who brought the same as them. I have noticed many children are starting to recall the various words and can give clear explanations to describe the object.
At the end of a term I always challenge the children to think about things they have learned during the term. We discuss things that have been difficult to learn and the importance of persevering and trying to achieve a goal. I use this as an opportunity to encourage and praise the children for what they have achieved and for them to realise as a group how much they have learned. We discuss the various themes and concepts we have learned as well as the EQ topics.
Activities and skills to practice during the holidays colours, shapes, cutting exercises, writing names correctly according to the script I sent home in week 2. Please continue to make your children aware of shapes in the environment. 3 d shapes are solid and fat not flat and they take up space - a sphere(ball), cylinder(a can), cube(dice), cuboid or rectangular prism ( a building tall), a cone( party hat) and a pyramid. Help your child to learn their date of birth eg 12 May.

The Dad's campout was also a great success, even though the wind howled. Thank you to all those who attended.
Please remember "Parent Interviews" begin today.  Please arrive a few minutes before your time slot, so I can keep to my schedule.  Look forward to seeing you all.

Turtle

Hello to all the Turtle Class Parents.
Your little ones are so enjoying learning about their bodies and we have been singing songs with them :
Heads and shoulders, knees and toes
If you happy and you know it
A body game: Where are your r=ears, eyes, arms etc.
Please encourage singing these songs at home too. Singing and dancing is an excellent way for children and parents to enjoy music together.
Tuesday will be my last day in the Turtle class and I just want to say how much I have loved teaching these precious children. I will miss all the hugs, roly pollies and dancing together.
Paula Wickham will be taking the class with Mastoera and Mama Patience from Thursday. They already love Mrs Wickham!
Thank you for allowing me to take care of your babies for this short time and I wish them all the best.
Have a great week.
Linda, Mastoera and Mama Patience.
