Weekly Meeting

Please join us for our next weekly gathering, taking place this Sunday, March 25th, for meditation and dharma sharing, 6:30pm at Unitarian Place (Kingston Unitarian Fellowship), 206 Concession Street. Keith Gawronski-McNinch will be bell minding.
Merit from Mindfulness

“Emperor Wu asked Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism in China, how much merit he had earned by building temples all over the country. Bodhidharma said, “None whatsoever.” But if you wash one dish in mindfulness, if you build one small temple while dwelling deeply in the present moment — not wanting to be anywhere else, not caring about fame or recognition — the merit from that act will be boundless, and you will feel very happy.”

-- Thich Nhat Hanh, The Heart of the Buddha's Teaching

Walk With Me

It's official! Walk With Me will have its Kingston premiere at The Screening Room on Saturday, April 14th at 4:00 pm. Members of Interbeing Sangha will lead a guided meditation at the beginning of the film, and host an information table in the lobby to answer questions about our practice and spread the word about our weekly meetings. Sangha Library

Featured Book

The newest addition to our sangha library is the classic Full Catastrophe Living by Jon Kabat-Zinn, with preface by Thich Nhat Hanh (with whom the author studied). This landmark work on mindfulness, meditation, and healing teaches how the wisdom of the body and mind can help us face stress, pain, and illness. ALSO: a gentle reminder, the following two books are currently overdue: With Each and Every Breath, Geoffrey DeGrath and Happiness, Thich Nhat Hahn. If you have these books, please return them.
The annual retreat hosted by Ottawa Pagoda Sangha and led by the monastics of Blue Cliff MonasteryThursday, May 10th - Sunday, May 13th at Galilee Centre is now open for registration. Follow the link below to learn more and to register:

Our friends in Ottawa remind us that registration is limited, so registering early is recommended. Note that there is no on-site registration.

Sunday at KUF

Lifespan Welcome

Asha Philar will speak this Sunday, March 25th at 10:30 am to share insights from research and work with congregations and reflections from young adults across Canada to consider the "Promise of Lifespan Welcome." How can we become as welcoming and inclusive as we aspire to be? What are young adults looking for in Unitarian Universalist communities, and are they finding it? For that matter, what are ALL the generations looking for, and are they finding it?
Happiness

“The notions and ideas we have about happiness can entrap us. We forget that they are just notions and ideas. Our idea of happiness may be the very thing that’s preventing us from being happy. When we’re caught in a belief that happiness should take a particular form, we fail to see the opportunities for joy that are right in front of us.”

-- Thich Nhat Hanh, How to Love
Our sangha has two teams helping to share leadership and facilitation of our meetings. Our Bell Minders Team are mindful facilitators for our weekly gatherings, as well as retreats, taking beautiful care of our friends in the practice including the bell. Our Sangha Care Team facilitates sangha care meetings, plans retreats, minds our library and resources, and coordinates outreach. If you are interested in helping with either or both, contact interbeingkingston@gmail.com for more information.
