Mars One Newsletter - Potential Landing Sites
Hi Mars One supporter,

2018 has been an exciting year, so far! Since our last update, there have been some big developments around potential landing sites for future Mars missions, we have added a host of presentations and talks to the docket for March and April in countries throughout Europe, and have attracted some interesting new investments in Mars One Ventures AG.

Potential Mars Settlement Sites

In late February, scientists at Wageningen University released the results of an in-depth study of The Red Planet, aimed at determining potential landing sites on Mars which would be favorable for crop production (and therefore colonization). The study, conducted by Mars One adviser Dr. ir. Wieger Wamelink, developed a complete 3D “Mars-wide landing map” showing optimal locales for plants to grow. By studying the levels of minerals and metals in the soil, The Wageningen team was able to identify multiple landing sites which could serve as ideal places for Martian agriculture.

Together with Wageningen's ongoing research into growing crops in Mars simulant soil, we are gaining great insight into not only what we can grow on Mars, but where we can expect it to grow best. This is great news for our mission and some (potentially very literal) food for thought.

Mars One Lecture and Q&A in Sofia

Mars One CEO Bas Lansdorp will be giving a public talk at the Sofia Event Center on the 23rd of March in Sofia, Bulgaria. Joining Bas will be Mars 100 candidate and Head of Innovation for SAP Africa, Adriana Marais. The talk is open to the public and special VIP tickets are available.

An event for the brave ones, for the leaders, for the trend setting companies, and for those who find all that is ‘cutting edge’ not merely interesting, but make it their mission.  For the ones who seek new knowledge and experiences, for themselves, their employees, clients, and partners.

Visit the event page for more information or to purchase tickets.

Bas will also be speaking at several upcoming marketing and tech events in March and April as a part of GroupM's NextM series. Join Bas on the 21st of March in Helsinki, 11th of April in Stockholm, and 18th of April in Copenhagen. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit NextM.

New investors

In financial news, CEO and co-founder of Mars One, Bas Lansdorp, recently announced a new investor in Mars One Ventures AG…himself! Bas’ €10,000 investment comes along with several other private placements as Mars One prepares to resume share trading.

This private placement round will remain open while the share is not yet trading. Please inform us if you are interested in investing with a discount, compared to the last traded price.
