Important Weather Information During Dismissal/Pick-up:

Staff members WILL remain outside during rain to continue normal dismissal procedures and escort students to cars.

In the event there is thunder/lightning*, all staff and students will immediately return INSIDE of the building for safety.

If staff/students return to the building at any point during dismissal, parents/designated persons will remain in car loop.

As you pull up to the building (or if able to reroute your vehicle), YOU are able to park and walk in to the building with your official car tag to pick-up your student(s) of you deem it is safe to do so.**

*During inclement weather, it is especially important that families follow all the traffic safety rules; it will take a little longer, but it will ensure the safety of everyone. At times it may be necessary to halt dismissal during inclement weather for everyone’s safety.

**For K-8 students with Pre-Prep siblings, those students will be moved inside the main building as pick-up will NOT be available at outside gate in between buildings. Parents who typically pick up at gate are also able to come to main building with their car tag IF they choose.

PTA Updates
PTA Sponsored All Pro Dad Meeting
Hey Dads and Kids...Spring Break is upon us and the days are ticking away before summer finally arrives.  Take this opportunity to join us for March's Lutz Prep/Lutz Pre-Prep All Pro Dad - Dad’s and Kid’s Breakfast.

This month's topic is "Sportsmanship".  Big Idea: Most of us have faced losing a game of some kind.  But it’s likely you’ve won something along the way too.  It’s important to remember that regardless of whether you win or lose, it’s all about your perspective of the situation.  Encouragement, humility, and respect all go into good sportsmanship before, during, or after anything we hope to do well.  Winning OR losing are two things we must learn to deal with positively and respectfully.  Ultimately, sportsmanship is all about having a positive outlook when you lose, and an encouraging attitude when you win.

Team up with other Lutz Prep dads and kids for a quick before-school breakfast.  Doors open at 7:00 AM on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.  The program starts at 7:15 and ends at 7:45. It’s fun and it’s free.  You and your kids will be glad you came!  Great way to start the morning.  Email Ryan Martin with any questions.

Florida Standards Assessment Portal
The FSA portal is your source for information about the Florida Standards Assessments.

Florida’s K-12 assessment system measures students’ achievement of Florida’s education standards, which were developed and implemented to ensure that all students graduate from high school ready for success in college, career, and life.  Assessment supports instruction and student learning, and test results help Florida’s educational leadership and stakeholders determine whether the goals of the education system are being met.  Please click HERE to visit the Florida Department of Education FSA Portal.

Florida Standards Assessments
As we have begun the second part of the school year, we want to inform you of some key information regarding the upcoming spring assessments. Below you will find tentative testing dates for the grade levels and their respective assessments.  Please be aware that these dates are provided within testing “windows”, and they can change based on various factors.  State and district changes, unforeseen technology issues, and internal scheduling at Lutz Prep all can play a factor in altering testing dates and times.  While we make every attempt to communicate with families, teachers, and our students in order to be best prepared, we appreciate your flexibility and patience during this time. In addition, please note that during testing windows, we will be a ‘closed campus’ and no volunteering is available.

Below are some good tips to help your child during testing:
  • Get a good night’s sleep
  • Eat a healthy breakfast before coming to school
  • Arrive to school ON TIME! Tardiness will affect your child’s testing schedule
  • Avoid scheduling appointments during the school day
  • Reminder: Absolutely NO electronics allowed during testing (cell phones, smart watch/wrist phones, etc.)
  • Help reinforce academic integrity and that this is a snapshot of your child’s progress
  • Encourage them to do their best and not stress

Camp Invention Summer Program at Lutz Preparatory School
Camp Invention takes summer fun and transforms it from ordinary to extraordinary!
In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Lutz Preparatory School is pleased to offer the nationally acclaimed Camp Invention program to children entering grades K-6. It’s an exciting, week-long summer adventure with lessons that explore connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation. Children will work together to seek solutions to real-world problems and sharpen critical 21st century learning skills while rotating through several fascinating modules. The week begins on June 11, 2018 with Christina Mitchelson serving as Director of the Fast Forward™ program!

Here is how young innovators will be spending their time:
  • Dreaming up and designing their very own futuristic smart home filled with gadgets, LEDs, technology and innovation
  • Using tools to take apart robotic dogs and compare their inner mechanics to the anatomy and physiology of a real dog
  • Designing tracks for their Optibots to follow while exploring different modes of transportation
  • Exploring chemistry, non-Newtonian fluids and magnetism as they investigate magnetic slime
All activities give participants the opportunity to explore, discover and achieve while having fun!  Local educators will facilitate program modules and enthusiastic high school students will serve as Leadership Interns, ensuring that one staff member is in place for every eight children.

Register using promo code Ideas25 to save $25 (expires 3/23) and Ideas15 to save $15
