Upon our arrival home from the 2018 Session, we hosted a open house to discuss the 2018 General Assembly Session. Thank you to those who stopped by. I truly enjoyed our conversations!
Our post session lunch and learn town hall meeting was a great success! It was widely attended and I hope you were able to take away information that could be beneficial to you.

If you attended and were not able to meet with Diana Shaban to see if you had any unclaimed property, visit the website here, click the "click to claim your property" button and follow the remaining steps.
Many of you know that I have been living with the challenges of Multiple Sclerosis for the past 23 years. When I was first diagnosed in 1995, there weren't many options for treatment.

But because of advances in research and treatment, we are moving closer to a world free from multiple sclerosis. We cannot stop until we find a cure for this unpredictable, potentially debilitating illness.

That is why I've decided to sponsor a team for WALK MS. When you participate, the funds we raise will go towards cutting-edge research, facilitating professional education, providing programs and services designed to help people with MS and their families move forward with their lives

The three mile walk will be held at Newport News Park on Saturday, April 7. Free team t-shirts will be given to members of my team. Since I am starting late this year, I have set my goal as only $1,000.  Surely I have enough friends to reach and exceed my goal.

March 14. Students walked out of their schools. For 17 minutes, students all over were united together for this peaceful protest in remembrance of the 17 innocent lives that we lost at Stoneman Douglas and to call for gun legislation that will make us all safer.
I was honored that The Hampton Roads Committee of 200+ Men Inc. selected me as the winner of The 200+ Men Proctor Award for Community Leadership for 2018. On March 27, 2018 they presented me with a certificate of recognition at their Samuel Dewitt Proctor Forum event entitled “Building Your Inner Hero,” co-sponsored with the Golden Fold mentoring program of the Gamma Xi chapter of Omega Psi Phi.
The Barrett-Peake Heritage Foundation presented An Evening to Remember, “A Concert of Honor and Tribute,” celebrating Women’s History Month and Hampton’s Women in Government. The honorees were Karen Edwards Bowden, City Manager for the City of Hampton Mary Bunting, Delegate Marcia Price, Vice-Chair of the Hampton School Board Ann Stephens Cherry, Vice-Mayor of the Hampton City Council Linda Duggan Curtis, Clerk of the Hampton City Council Katherine Glass, Hampton School Board Member Phyllis Taylor Henry, Delegate Jeion Ward, Senator Mamie E. Locke, Vanessa Valldejuli, Clerk of the Court for the City of Hampton Linda Batchelor Smith, Councilmember for the City of Hampton Chris Snead, Former Chief of Staff for Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott Joni Ivey, and City Council member for the City of Hampton Teresa Schmidt.

This action-based organization was founded by Dr. Mary T. Christian and Dr. Colita N. Fairfax. Their mission is to restore and preserve historic African American sites in Hampton, Virginia. It will restore and create a museum at the state headquarters of the Virginia Federation of Colored Women’s Clubs, continue upgrading and secure signage for historic cemeteries, and develop new educational and cultural initiatives for the former Virginia School for the Deaf, Blind and Multi-Disabled at Hampton.
All the best,

Delegate Jeion (ja-WAN) Ward
