Adult Programs
Here's the April line-up for adults. A big "thank you" to the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce for their assistance with our small business spotlight series.  And don't miss the first-of-its-kind staged theatrical reading at the library!  Coming in May, a program on healthy living through herbs, and the start of a new support group for those affected by Alzheimer's or Dementia.  More details coming soon.
Spring Break Programs for Kids and Families
Spring Break plans include a drop-in craft, a free movie, and coding challenges, plus the free kids’ carnival sponsored by the Friends.  Children and adults are also welcome to stop in anytime to add to the Lego Town building project and to enter the guessing jar contest.

Teen Events

In addition to Open Gaming, which meets every Friday from 2 to 4 p.m., the library is showing the new Jumanji movie on Friday the 13th, after the library has closed for the night.  Free! Doors open at 7:45.

News from the Friends

Did we mention the free carnival yet?  Thank you, Friends, for putting this on!  A few more volunteers are still needed, so stop by the meeting (6 p.m. Tuesday, April 3) and let them know if you can help.

From the Director's Corner

As spring comes around the corner, the library has just finished another green project.  We are working on reducing any costs we can so we will be more sustainable, and if we can also become greener, it’s even better.  We have replaced fluorescent bulbs in several areas of the library with LEDs, and that has worked well.

This past month, we took the plunge and changed over the entire main area of the library (103 fixtures!) to LED.  LED lights are brighter and cost less to run.  Since they also generate very little heat, they help with reducing our air conditioning costs too.  We will be closely watching our utility bills over the next year.

We need to say thank you to: Consumer’s Energy for providing the grant we used for discounts on the bulbs we purchased, Walmart Foundation for a grant that provided most of the remaining funds we needed for bulbs and electrical work, Ralph and RoxAnne Twining-Russo for donating the final funds to complete the project and Travis Winters of Winters Electric for doing the retrofitting and installing the LED bulbs.  These have all made this project a success and affordable for the library.

The last big LED project will be the meeting room.  This was postponed because the lights are on dimmer switches and will require dealing with the switches and a different type of bulb.

As spring approaches and the ground thaws, we will be looking for volunteers to help us expand the back garden area for our turf reduction project.  If you are interested, please call or drop by the library to sign up.  We will be taking up turf, putting down garden soil, moving some plants out of the other 2 gardens into the third one and mulching all 3 gardens.  With enough hands helping, we hope this will be a quick project.

Happy Spring!
