Anne Wien Newsletter - April 2, 2018
I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Easter weekend! The sunlight reflecting off of all this bright white snow sure has made Fairbanks heavenly at this time of year. (I'm sure we'll all be changing our tune as soon as all of this snow starts to melt, though!) Thank you for the fantastic turnout at last week's Anne Wien Art Show. Be sure to go to our school Facebook page to check out some great family photos. We're looking forward to seeing you all again this Friday morning for PTA's "Pastries with Parents" in the gym. Enjoy this first week of April.

"Pastries with Parents" this Friday
This coming Friday, April 6, is the first Friday of the new month, so that means that our PTA will be hosting another special morning in the gym. Instead of just “Muffins with Moms” or “Donuts with Dads,” though, this time our PTA is inviting everyone and is calling it “Pastries with Parents!” So, please bring your River Otters and join us in the gym this Friday morning, from 7:45-8:15am!

March "Healthy Futures Logs" due now
The HEALTHY FUTURES Challenge for March ended Saturday, March 31. Students must turn in their March activity logs by Wednesday, April 4, for them to count! The April HEALTHY FUTURES Challenge started on Sunday, April 1. April activity logs came home on Friday, March 30. Last Chance for Yearbooks!
Don’t miss out! This is the last week to order yearbooks online. This Friday, April 6 is the last day to order online. We can take payments in the office for exact cash or checks made payable to "Anne Wien PTA" until next Wednesday, April 11. Those pre-ordering a yearbook will be guaranteed a full-color yearbook for $15. Go to: ybpay.lifetouch.com and enter Yearbook ID Code: 12814718. There will be a very limited number of extra yearbooks available when orders come in, typically less than 25, so we encourage you to pre-order now.

The class that reads the most minutes will win an ice cream party! The more you read the smarter you get, so READ, READ, READ! The race will now end this Friday, April 6.

PTA Book Give Away

Our annual statewide testing for all 3rd-6th grade students will be held in 3 weeks during the week of April 16-20, so it will be VERY important for all student to be in attendance that week. Thank you for marking your calendars.
Our younger students in Kindergarten-2nd Grade will be participating in another round of AIMSWeb "universal screening" this week, where we will be checking their progress in Math, Reading, and Writing.

We'll celebrate the end of our statewide testing week with our PTA Spring Carnival on Friday, April 20, from 5:30-7:30pm! Mark your calendars for the fun annual event at Anne Wien!

Returning to Anne Wien
Next Year?
We are already planning for next school year and would appreciate you letting us know if your child will be returning to Anne Wien. Please fill-out and return our Pre-Registration Forms by Friday, April 13. They are coming home with your child this week and are on BRIGHT PINK PAPER.
