RSA is coming up in a few weeks here in San Francisco, so I hope everyone is filling their calendars with happy hours, dinners, and parties galore. In the spirit of community, we decided to do something a bit different; more casual and personal than the typical big conference madness. If that sounds enticing, then come join us at the ScaleFT offices on Wednesday, April 18th for the inaugural BeyondCorp Community Lounge. We have a great, open space just a few blocks from the convention center, where you will enjoy a full day of content, networking, and games.

We’ll have a string of back-to-back Q&A and whiteboard sessions with me as your host, interviewing security & infrastructure professionals about a variety of topics. No vendor pitches, just practitioners talking about their work. Want to learn some AWS best practices, how to deal with service identity, what identity means to developers, how to build a globally distributed authorization engine, and more? Then swing on by! We’ll have food, drinks, and even a VR station to go along with all the talks. We’ll cap the day off with a happy hour across the street at the legendary Eddie Rickenbacker’s.

Space is limited, so please be sure to reserve your spot. I smell an annual community tradition brewing, so don’t miss out on this inaugural event!

Here are a few additional things that caught my eye this past week.

Next Generation Access and Zero Trust [Forrester]

Chase Cunningham has taken the reigns of Zero Trust at Forrester, and continues to pump out stellar content at a rapid pace. Here, he points to the importance of modern access controls as a critical component of a Zero Trust system. This is very much in line with our beliefs at ScaleFT, so it’s great to see such a strong proof point from a top tier analyst. Keep it up, Chase.

Why Businesses and Governments Need to Stop Trying to Secure Their Networks [MIT Sloan]

If you follow this newsletter, you may have noticed a trend week after week – more government agencies are catching on to the Zero Trust model. Here, a Lt. Col. from the Air Force, shares his thoughts. Zero Trust doesn’t mean eliminating network infrastructure, it just means keeping it for the function it was originally intended for – transmitting data between points. Exactly.

Secure Access to 100 AWS Accounts [Segment Blog]

Here is a great post from one of my favorite SaaS companies, Segment, on how they are able to manage access controls across multiple AWS accounts while eliminating all static keys. Clever, indeed. I’m super excited that the author, Evan Johnson, will be participating in a Q&A session at our RSA event. I look forward to learning more. I bet you do too, so one last reminder to RSVP! :)

That does it for this week. Check back this time next week for another set of relevant news, articles, and events. Cheers,
