We've been waiting for it, and it's finally almost here! Whip It, a movie about one girl's quest to become a rollergirl, will be hitting theaters nationwide on October 2nd.
The film stars Ellen Page, Juliette Lewis, singer Eve, and Drew Barrymore, who also directs. Atlanta's very own Sk8 Outta Compton was the stunt double for Eve!

Although the movie  follows a team that plays on a banked track and doesn't seem to play by many rules, the film should help to bring the legitimate sport of flat track roller derby to a bigger audience. Check back to see if the Atlanta Rollergirls will be visiting any local theaters to help promote the film!

Do you miss us too much to wait until the Southern Fried Smackdown? Then come on out to see us in the East Atlanta Strut on September 19th!

The Strut is an annual festival featuring great food and drinks, an artists' market, a 5K run, and live music!  Some of your favorite rollergirls will be skating in the parade, so make sure you get a good spot on the route, and cheer them on!

The East Atlanta Strut also features a free kids' village, full of activities to keep your children entertained, so there's no reason to miss this awesome event. For more info, please visit their website at
