Over the last few weeks, we’ve heard an array of luggage woes from R2R travelers.  Weather delays can cause missed connections, plane changes, rerouting, etc.  The adjustments often mean checked luggage doesn’t arrive to your destination when you do.

We’re often asked how we deal with/avoid this as frequent travelers.  The answer: travel only with carry-on luggage.

During Denver’s Travel and Adventure Show last weekend, we heard a presentation from Angel Catellanos on the best way to pack a carry-on.  We thought you might find his tips valuable.

FEATURED DESTINATION:
VINICUNCA (RAINBOW) MOUNTAIN, PERU
40x4

The peaks in the Ausangate mountain region of the Peruvian Andes are all uniquely colored. Some are terra cotta. Some are lavender.  Some are a vibrant turquoise. They’re colored by the sediment and atmosphere of the area, unique because of its altitude and isolation close to the ocean. But none are quite so marvelous as Vinicunca, also known as Rainbow Mountain.

In the past, Rainbow Mountain was notoriously difficult to find.  It’s located deep in the mountain range, and even the most adept travelers with highly experienced guides reported difficulty finding it. It also took several days to access the summit.

Places like this, especially in a country well known for multi-day treks like Peru, don’t stay secret for long.  Rainbow Mountain has been making headlines in a variety of publications recently.

There’s now a road leading to the mountain’s access point and a trek to the summit can be accomplished in a few hours.

Inkaterra’s Hacienda Urubamba in Peru’s Sacred Valley now offers guests the chance to hike Rainbow Mountain during their stay.  Click here for more information.  If you’re thinking of a trip to Peru, we’re always happy to schedule a call or webinar to discuss the wide variety of options available.

TESTIMONIALS

40x40   I wanted to tell you that this trip [Spring Magic in Nebraska] truly was magic for and Gayle and I. The cranes of course were spectacular but throw in golden eagles and a whooping crane, oh boy! The hosts at the Switzer Ranch could not have been more welcoming with a down home attitude that really gave you a sense of ranching life in Nebraska. The prairie chicken and grouse displays were fascinating! Much thanks goes to Tom, particularly for having the flexibility to let us score the Whooper. And what a wonderful group of people on the tour, more than willing to go with the flow without issues. The Switzer Ranch people even complimented us of all things. Anyway, thanks again for arranging such a ‘magical trip’! You will see our names again on future trips.   40x40
