We're not prone to hyperbole, and we don’t have adequate words to describe it, so let’s put it this way: if the 2014 controller upgrade was meaningful to you, then you want this update. We kid you not. Refer to the above blog post - specifically our comments about speed errors masquerading as distortion and you'll understand why.
The supply (at 12VDC / 4.5A) is a bit of overkill, but given the $45 price difference between it and its 2.5A baby brother, we're specifying this larger one.
One key benefit is that you'll have plenty of current capability to experiment with it in other components specified for 12VDC.
The umbilical is compatible with Galibier motor pods (2.5mm x 5.5mm, center positive), but alternate umbilicals are available.
Pricing:
Pricing for the full upgrade will be:
- $414 for the power supply
- $195 for the controller modification
- $25 shipping (estimate) to locations in the US
The mod we perform to your controller will work with your current linear supplies (Tenma, Astron, etc.). The improvement will be minimal if you don’t use the Teddy Pardo, however.
It’s also worth mentioning that after the controller board mod, a battery supply is not recommended, but we’ve surpassed battery performance ever since the 2014 controller update, so this should be of no concern to you.
Pricing for Legacy Controller Owners:
72% of you upgraded your controllers in 2014. We're grateful for the confidence you continue to express in Galibier. We've created the following package for those of you who missed this upgrade:
- $414 for the power supply
- $1,095 for the 2014 controller brought to 2018 specification
- $120 for two Kapton belts
- $25 shipping (estimate) to locations in the US
After this initial offering, the 2018 specification controller (without the Teddy Pardo and the belts) will return to it's $1,295 price.
