Susie here this month…
The office is a busy place and today is no exception. A meeting about GDPR (how exciting I hear you say), an essay being written on carnivorous plants (student daughter visiting home) staff popping in and out with questions, phone calls, teachers re booking, and here I am trying to concentrate on writing the March news. Who knows what might end up in this news but I hope you enjoy it.

Groups
We have had four schools visiting this month, one of which is a new school to the Centre. Two were year 6’s and two were year 4’s, and they came from Cheshire, Birmingham and Leicestershire, so far and wide. All of those weeks seemed to go well despite interesting weather at times, with windy, snowy days as well as pleasant spring like days. It all adds to the experience!
We have had new epilogues delivered by some of our younger team members which were fantastic and great times around bonfires on the final night of most of the visits. We also had two youth groups and a retreat day by local churches. All seemed to go well.
Team News
The Team have been busy training whenever there has been a chance which has been good to see. There has been lots of biking and climbing and a little bit of water based training. Two are currently on a 2 day three star kayak course. There is lots more training to come and we love seeing the enthusiasm in the team.
Andrew Boles, who left last year, has come back. He is back on the team for 6 months and we are glad to have him here even if the noise level and food consumption has increased!
Local Youth Work
The Team have worked hard in the Friday night youth clubs we help to run at Tywyn Baptist Church. Beth does a great job as the lead youth worker, and the March programme has been varied and fun, including games nights, record breakers, and an Easter themed evening. We have been getting over 60 children coming along across both clubs, which is amazing.
A couple of team members, Zoe and Beth, also help to run a kids club in Fairbourne for St Cynon’s church and that too has been going well with quite a lot of children coming along. They had an afternoon up at the Centre recently which was well attended. Summer camp bookings are going well.
In Other News
The woods restoration project has started but is now on pause as the main contractor has just become a new Dad. Hopefully it will restart shortly and soon the new climbing wall will be made use of at last. The new bathrooms are a big hit with some teachers being overheard to say on arrival how amazing they were. I never knew people could be so excited about showers and toilets! We continue to make plans for the downstairs cloakrooms to be rebuilt into showers and toilets and we would love to see that done before the end of the year.
Prayer Points
- For more summer team applications, we could do with at least one more and maybe two
- Staffing for September
- For the full and free use of the road – thank you for the encouraging bible verses we have been sent – we know God is in charge. (Psalm 37)
- Easter family weeks are a time of refreshing and encouragement to all that come.
- That the team will be encouraged and built up as they go about their work
