What to Expect at the 6th Annual Telehealth Summit of South Carolina

The 2018 Summit is an opportunity for professionals in all aspects of the healthcare industry to learn about the latest telehealth policies and practices in South Carolina. Panel discussions featuring administrators and doctors on the forefront of telehealth expansion headline the summit.

Two New Telehealth Programs Launched at MUSC!

  • Diabetic Teleretinal Screening:  In partnership with Storm Eye and funded through a Duke Endowment Grant, a brand-new state-of-the-art retinal camera was installed in University Internal Medicine. This supports quality measures and provides convenience for our diabetic patients, who can now receive this retinal screening during their primary care visit.

  • PharmD Telehealth Services:  With Telehealth, Primary Care can now offer telehealth visits with our PharmD.  This extends the reach of our PharmD services in Primary Care. Patients benefit by being able to remotely connect with our PharmD and receive valuable instruction on managing their chronic conditions.

It’s almost time for ATA!

 April 29 – May 1, 2018.

MUSC’s own S. David McSwain, M.D., MPH will receive the prestigious Champion Award at the conference. This award recognizes one individual in the nation who has demonstrated leadership and championship at local, national or international levels in promoting and advocating for telehealth. Contributions may be in one or more areas of education, research, service delivery, policy and regulations. Dr. McSwain recently led a national effort that developed the ATA's national pediatric guidelines that was endorsed by the AAP. In addition, he has worked tirelessly at the state level with the other children's hospitals to develop and coordinate statewide pediatric telehealth services. MUSC and the entire state of South Carolina is proud of you Dr. McSwain!
