Volunteer Facilitator for English Conversation Circle 
 

We are looking for volunteers to facilitate a English conversation circle for newcomers, who possess these qualitites:

  • Willing to participate in community and volunteerism
  • Good command of English
  • Excellent communication & conversation skills
  • Teaching/Education experience is an asset

We are looking for help on the following days:

Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays

  • 10:00 am- 12:00 pm
  • 2:00-4:00pm
  • 4:00-6:00 pm

Fridays (Female Group)

  • 3:00-5:00 pm

We are looking for 4-5 people.

Volunteer Opportunity 


Event Organizer 


Action for Healthy Communities Society of Edmonton is seeking a highly self-motivated individual to work as a Volunteer Event Organizer  to coordinate our Community Action Dash/Health Festival, which will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. This is an excellent opportunity to help develop your leadership skills and build new networks.


Responsibilities
  • Work with the Program Manager of Community Capacities as a team to create and implement the event plan.
  • Coordinate online and offline promotion of the event.
  • Work with the team to develop the program for the event.
  • Identify the speakers and the artists for the event; serve as liaison with speakers and artists on event-relate matters.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to work for the event.
  • Manage the logistics for the event.
  • Close out all events as required.
  • Write the report after the event.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent leadership skills, communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiar with community work preferred. 
  • Event planning/management or project management experience.
  • Excellent computer skills and social media.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a diverse team.

Come Together Alberta Conference

 

The Alberta Urban Municipalities Association is pleased to announce that registration is now open for its Come Together Alberta Conference! The conference will be held in Edmonton at the Delta Edmonton South Conference Centre on May 16-17 and pre-conference sessions are available on May 15. The conference will offer participants inspiration and knowledge to take action to create communities that are more welcoming and inclusive, where residents and visitors are not at risk of social exclusion. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in experiential activities as well as hear about promising practices being led by municipal governments and community organizations.

 

The event is designed for municipal elected officials, municipal administrators and coordinators, human resource practitioners, provincial officials, community organizations, cultural organizations, libraries, housing organizations, educational institutions and anyone with an interest in creating more inclusive environments.

 

The cost is $75.00 and the optional pre-conference sessions are $25.00 each, not including GST. The agenda and registration details can be viewed at AUMA’s event page.
