Heath Humanities Medal: Call for nominations/applications, deadline 24 May 2018

If you or your colleagues have been funded by the Wellcome Trust or the UK's AHRC, you are eligible to apply for the medal. Read more
 

'Violence, Medicine, and Psychiatry' postdoc; deadline 11 May 2018

Applications are sought from scholars working in any discipline (such as history, medical humanities, law, sociology, philosophy, political science, psychology, or anthropology, etc.) and geographical location in the modern period (i.e. late C18th to the present). Read more
 

Fellowships in the Medical Humanities and History of Medicine – deadline 16 June 2018

Applications are now being accepted for Consortium Research Fellowships for scholars using the collections of the Consortium’s 25 member institutions - from the Adler Planetarium to Yale University. Read more

Communicating Across Cultures and Languages in the Health Care Setting

A new publication by Profs Claire Penn and Jennifer Watermeyer of the Health Communication Research Unit at the University of the Witwatersrand “offers a novel approach to understanding the complexities of communication in culturally and linguistically diverse health care contexts. It marks the culmination of two decades of research in South Africa, a context that has obvious application in a wider international climate given current globalization and migration trends.” Read more
