Consultation: Williamson Square

Liverpool City Council, together with Liverpool BID Company and Everyman & Playhouse, are hosting a two month public consultation on what should be done to breathe new life into this historic square, originally laid out in 1745.

On Tuesday 17th April, Liverpool social enterprise PLACED are running the last of three consultation events in the square, and we’d encourage you to have your say over how Williamson Square could benefit you.

If you can’t make it in person, you can also fill in this online form. Read more on the Engage Liverpool website, and Regenerating Liverpool.

First cruise liner of the year

Liverpool will play host to almost 60 ships this cruise season, including two visits from Cunard ships Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth in May and July, and the return of Disney Magic in September.

But kicking the season off, we have Fred Olsen’s Black Watch, arriving Thursday 26th April.

Liverpool’s cruise terminal brings more than 100,000 international visitors right into the heart of the city every year, and industry surveys consistently praise the friendly welcome that visitors receive in Liverpool.

Did you know…

Saturday 14th April marks the anniversary of the night RMS Titanic sank on its maiden voyage from Liverpool to New York. As well as transporting passengers, the Titanic was officially a ‘Royal Mail Ship’, and was carrying over 7 million items of mail for delivery to the USA when it sank.

Government launches £260m package to help local authorities tackle air pollution

Air quality in UK cities is a national concern, and we’re happy to see the government supporting anti-pollution efforts at a time when local councils are under tremendous financial pressure.

In 2015, Engage Liverpool ran a series of events to highlight the poor air quality in Liverpool city centre, which you can read more about on our website.
