6 Year Anniversary of energypedia |
In April 2018, energypedia will complete its 6 glorious years of knowledge sharing and mutual learning! Since 2012 when we first started working, we have come a long way. With each passing year our knowledge base and our impact has grown bigger. Today, our community has over 8,300 energy experts who have contributed to over 4,200 quality articles on energypedia. A big thank you to all our donors, supporters and users who have been a constant pillar of support and encouragement in our journey. We are looking forward to your contributions to energypedia also in the coming years! |

Energy for Displaced People – Join the Working Groups and Contribute to a Global Plan of Action |
The Energy for Displaced People conference was held in January 2018 to initiate the Global Plan of Action for Sustainable Energy Solutions in Situations of Displacement (GPA). The five working groups under the GPA include: Planning and Coordination; Policy, Advocacy and Host Country Resilience; Innovative Finance; Technical Expertise, Capacity Building and Training; Data, Monitoring, Evidence and Reporting. To join any of the working groups or to receive updates on the GPA, please contact energy@unitar.org.
The GIZ in Berlin hosted the conference through the support of the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany. The conference summary, outcome documents as well as background papers are now available on energypedia. |

Kasese (Uganda) Commits to 100% Renewable Energy |
Kasese district in Uganda has committed to 100% renewable energy by 2020. This transition to renewable energy will decrease the uncontrolled use of charcoal, firewood and kerosene, which are the main energy sources so far. The distinct plan of implementation is laid out in the Renewable Energy Strategy, which runs from 2013- 2020. Read more... |

Conference: Comprehensive Energy Planning in Critical Settings from Emergency to Development |
The conference will focus on the main challenges and the need of integrated approaches for an efficient management of energy and other resources in critical settings, from emergency towards development. It is the final event of the SET4food project (Sustainable Energy Technologies for Food Security in humanitarian contexts, www.set4food.org) funded by the European Union Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO), and hosted by Politecnico di Milano and COOPI - Cooperazione Internazionale. The conference will be held on 12th April 2018 in the main campus of Politecnico di Milano. Participation is free, but places are limited. Pre-register here: bit.ly/set4foodconf.
