Hello friends and fans, I'm writing with recent news regarding an upcoming Spring tour with Catharsis throughout the West Coast and Midwest, thoughts on my recent trip to Cuba with the inimitable musicologist, author, and songwriter, Ned Sublette, and to share a recent article I wrote for Downbeat Magazine called, "Where Did the Trombonist Go?".
Earlier this year I was asked to contribute an article to Downbeat Magazine's "Woodshed" section and decided to write about intonation; everyone's favorite subject and the bane of every trombonist's existence! You can read the whole article here.
Just last week Erica and I returned from an unforgettable, life-changing trip to Cuba. It's such a travesty that our countries have positioned themselves politically in the way they have because we have so much to share with and teach one another. Our time was spent each day with non-stop listening, interacting, and learning from incredible Cuban musicians, dancers, historians, cultural ambassadors, and every day people. I can't recommend Ned Sublette's "Postmambo" tours highly enough. Finally, Catharsis will be heading West beginning April 14th with performances in San Francisco, Chico, Arcata, Napa, Los Angeles, and Portland, then on to Indianapolis, Appleton, and Chicago! Details and ticket info below! Hope to see many of you on the road!
