Dear Dancing Friends,

The last two months were very busy at the Dance Pavilion, with teacher training, professional exams and students’ Medal Tests. In this newsletter, you can read more about these activities as well as an invitation to exciting NEW classes and upcoming events.

Check the pictures and click on the videos below to see how your friends did at the Medal Test and hear what they said about their great experience. Join them next time and be rewarded with a diploma as you take your dancing to the next level!

To celebrate everybody’s success I would like to invite you to our Spring Celebration / Medal Ball on Saturday, April 21. We will applaud our graduates, give them their awards, watch them perform, share delicious cake, and of course dance the night away! Please bring your friends, spread the news, and come to congratulate your friends!

Remember to check the schedule below to see updated classes and a short description of the things I would like to teach.  Please note my two new American Smooth classes where you’ll find plenty of new moves for your routines. I guarantee that you will walk away not only with a new set of steps, but also with a smile on your face.

Last, I would like to invite you to click on the link below and read the article I wrote for the USISTD Top Line magazine. I hope you will find it interesting and useful.

Enjoy this cold but beautiful Spring and have a happy Easter!

Izabela

Group Class Descriptions

Monday 7:00 pm Advanced Quickstep and 8:00 pm Intermediate Smooth Viennese Waltz will begin April 2 and continue until April 30.
In April I have decided to teach two separate classes, one dedicated to International style Quickstep (Gold level), and the other to American style Viennese Waltz (Silver level). Here is a short description of what I am going to teach:
QUICKSTEP – This will be a lively, flowing choreography that will consist of: Natural Spin Turn, Chasses, Quick Open Reverse, Four Quick Runs “with a twist”, Rumba Cross (double up), V-6, Six Quick Runs, Underturned Tipple Chasses, Cross Swivels, “unusual” Double Reverse Spin, Fish Tail, Reverse Pivot, Closed Telemark and Tipsy to Left and Right.
SMOOTH VIENNESE WALTZ – In the second class we will learn such beautiful combinations as: Left Turns with Lady’s Underarm Turn, Progressive Fifth Position Break with Hand Change, Back to Back Box, Shadow Turns to Right, Ronde To Throwaway, Underarm Spins to Throwaway, and of course our favorites: Natural and Reverse Fleckerls.

Tuesday 8:00 pm classes (at Dance Elite in West Bloomfield) will begin April 3 and continue until April 24. Here we will continue learning Silver level WALTZ and master steps such as: Hesitation Change, Double Reverse Spin, Whisk, Weave from PP, Natural Spin Turn, Reverse Pivot, Chasses to Right and Open Telemark with Cross Hesitation.

Thursday 7:00 pm class is the continuation of the 9-week Ballroom Basics for Beginners that began March 1 and will continue until April 26. In this program we will learn Foxtrot from the American Smooth category, and add Swing and Mambo from the American Rhythm style. Every new student is invited, even in the middle of the session! This is a fun and easygoing class suitable for first-time learners.

Thursday 8:00 pm class will begin April 5 and end April 26 (with no class on April 12).  Here we will learn Cha-Cha (Gold level). Cha-Cha is an exciting syncopated Latin dance and the steps that will take you into its character are: Alemana, Advanced Hip Twist, Foot Changes - method 3 and 4 – Cross Basic (development), Three Cha Cha Chas Back, Natural Top, and finally the attractive Follow My Leader.

Friday 7:00 pm evening class is back on our schedule but with a new approach. I have decided to introduce American Smooth patterns from the Silver (intermediate) level. This class is for all who are looking for:
* an upgrade to your social dance patterns
* some new moves for your upcoming showcase
* or to those who are devoted International Standard dancers but are dreaming of freeing your hold once in a while, and dancing something fun and challenging in side-by-side, shadow, or open position.
We will begin with American Smooth Waltz. Here are the patterns I would like to introduce: Open Simple Twinkle turning right and left, Open Right Turn, Open Left Turn, Single Wrap, and Syncopated Right Underarm Turn.
Here is the link to the Top Line magazine article that I just wrote "At last, ready to compete". Hope you will enjoy reading it!
