At a time when more people than ever are seeking public mental health services in Sonoma County, we need more funding for mental health services, not less.
Public mental health services ensure people receive treatment when they need it--helping them to stay in school, or on the job and in recovery. Without these needed services, everyday tragedies take place as people with mental illness end up in emergency rooms, jails or on the streets. Additionally, since last October, many more people in our community are experiencing mental health stressors from the loss of homes, employment, neighbors, child care options, memories--even deaths-- due to the wildfires.
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors President James Gore agrees that this is not the time to cut mental health services. He recently said, "This is coming at a time when we are dealing with community trauma. There's more need for services."
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors is meetingo on the budget on Tuesday, March 27 and we need to let them know that budget decisions must be made carefully-- and cutting mental health services is not the answer.

Additionally, we encourage all mental health advocates to show up at the County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, March 27 at 8:30 AM (576 Administration Drive, room 102A, Santa Rosa). Public comments are welcomed during the first 30 minutes of the meeting and having a visible presence at the meeting will reinforce our message.
Here's what you can say in your email or phone call:
