Talking About the Science of Sports

Spring is a season of beginnings, and it’s a great time to incorporate some fitness into your STEM lessons. You read that right: sports and STEM are a powerhouse combo, with the potential to reach students who may traditionally be excluded from STEM education.

Dr. John Drazan is a lecturer in biomedical engineering at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and one of the visionaries behind 4th Family, a non-profit focused on leveraging a love of sports to encourage STEM learning for at-risk youth. Read his award-winning paper, The Potential of Sports Analytics to Revolutionize STEM Educationto learn more about the role of sports in STEM education.

Watch Dr. Drazan's TEDxAlbany talk about engaging diverse youth in STEM education. Follow him on Twitter, too!
