Simos family ministry update, Dominican Republic    View this email in your browser

The 2017-2018 school year has officially ended!  You can barely see Miss Mery above; enjoying her final recess surrounded by her first graders.  Miss Solis is seen in the next picture, engaging our fourth grader, Rosa, about a problem she had.  It was a fantastic year, full of all kinds of discipleship.  The Lord gave us challenges that created cleverly disguised opportunities to put no confidence in the flesh (Phil 3:3).  Students came to know the Lord.  Students were renewed in their thinking regarding truth.  Students, like three-year-old Samy above, simply learned how to listen to the teacher and be nice to classmates.  Given the rough conditions that Samy is growing up in, we know it's a powerful God who is behind it all.  Samy's mother died a few years back, and her aunt is trying to make ends meet while raising her own kids in a 10x10 house in Batey Lima.  We know God has a plan for not just Samy, but Rosa, Miss Solis, Miss Mery and all of us who have been knit together through His ministry.  He is to be praised for His work this past year, so join us in rejoicing in salvations, struggles, and small changes!

Interns Wanted!  Several years ago, I was looking for an internship.  Yes, several years ago.  I interviewed with companies, in search of what?  A real-life experience? meaningful work? a chance to manage work and life? opportunities to connect and form strong relationships? accountability? a demanding and challenging environment? Yes, but why?  I wanted to grow and learn!  Now that I'm on the "other side", I'm envious of the opportunities that Freedom interns get.  It's all of the above, and it takes place in a Christ-centered, loving environment. The very same environment where missionaries and students are discipled in what it is to live to the glory of God in every facet of life. If this describes you, then talk to us.  Let us know if you or someone you know would like to join us on the ground in the Dominican.
We will be in the States soon for our furlough.  It will be busy but encouraging to see so many friends and family!  This furlough will be different with just Toni, Gabe and I.  Kinsey is in Georgia, and Elle is in North Carolina.  They are both camp counselors for the summer.  Below are the churches that we will be visiting.  If you're in the area, please come see us!
