Rebates for Your Home and Restoration in the Creek

Hello Groundwork family!

This newsletter might be a bit late, but in all confidence we would like to inform you that the delectable, informational, and sensational content below does not expire. What you see below, the updates we bring to you are beyond the perishing effects of time. This is simply because the work we do to bring water and energy conservation to the Encanto area is always for the long term. With that said, please peruse the articles below that will show you how to save money in your home and the new project we're working on for Chollas Creek. Thanks, and as always, enjoy!

Alex at the EarthLab: February
Outwitting coyotes is one of the many unique challenges to confront our Earthlab manager, Alex Garcia. With unmatchable expertise, he turns his quick-thinking into acting-quick to maintain the Earthlab day in and day out. All praise to him, he who so valiantly brings life to the soil of our education center; he who enriches the minds of local students with his unwavering dedication to education; he who, in an alchemic fashion, can turn a sad lawn into a radiant (and drought-tolerant!) landscape. Alex Garcia, our steadfast hero of water and energy conservation, updates us on his latest acts of honor in his new blog post, which you can read by clicking here!
Groundwork Recieves Grant for Chollas Creek Restoration
We continue to push forward our plans to restore Chollas Creek to it's optimal health, and to create an enjoyable multi-use trail connecting Southeastern San Diego to the bay. Check out the latest grant we've received to make more moves on those plans.

We are happy to report that, as of January 2018, we have installed drought tolerant landscapes (drought tolerant plants/fruit trees ), low flow toilets, low energy showerheads, greywater installations and rain barrels into most of the 50 homes designated through the IRWM grant. According to Karl Tucker (resident), he can sit in front of his home and enjoy the humming birds, knowing that he has systems in place to conserve water, reduce his water & energy bills and enjoy fruit from the trees that grow in his yard.
