Message from the President
Dear colleagues and friends,
Welcome to this winter edition of the newsletter, which reflects the ongoing chilly weather!
In this edition, we hear from one of our closest collaborators, the European Psychiatric Association. Those of you lucky enough to attend the recent EPA Congress in Nice will be aware of some of the fantastic work they do. EFPT had several very successful symposia and workshops throughout the congress, a stand in the exhibition hall and a wonderful dinner attended by over 80 trainees. The EPA Committee for Education has been hard at work on its new MOOC on CBT, which opens on 9th April, so please sign up and add it to your diary.
We also hear from the Recruitment and Positive Image Promotion group, which has been working hard to showcase how great our specialty is and encourage the psychiatrists of the future to join the profession. We also get the lowdown on what it is like to be a trainee in Sweden, from the perspective of a Portuguese exchange participant, including a sighting of the elusive and beautiful Northern Lights!
Thoughts begin to turn towards the highlight of the EFPT calendar, the annual Forum. The Local Organising Committee is looking forward to welcoming you to Bristol in July for the 2018 incarnation. We will have visits to several local clinics across the city, sightseeing trips to Bristol and nearby historical Bath, a scientific day of cutting edge neuroscience and an optional psychotherapy training day. Booking will open very shortly and we will again have a generous bursary scheme to support delegates to attend. We look forward to seeing you there!
