Ithaca Green Building Policy Report Approved by City, Town
The Ithaca Green Building Policy report was adopted by the City of Ithaca Common Council on May 2 and accepted by the Town Board on May 7. Both municipalities have directed staff to codify the policy recommendations contained in the report. The draft legislation will then be considered for adoption by Common Council and the Town Board.

NYS Announces New Energy Efficiency Targets and Strategy
NYSERDA has released New Efficiency: New York, a white paper describing the strategies and initiatives behind achieving the new New York State energy efficiency target announced April 20th. With its support of stretch energy codes, affordability, and heat pumps, the State's strategy seems well aligned with the Ithaca Green Building Policy report.

2017 Accomplishment: The Town and the City of Ithaca both received Climate Smart Certification from NYS DEC.
2017 Sustainability Progress Reports
2017 was a big year for sustainability. The Tompkins County Climate Protection Initiative gathers and publishes annual reports from its members, including the Town of Ithaca, the City of Ithaca, and many more (see middle of page).
Farmers Market Season Kicks Off
Farmers Market season is now in full swing. Between three locations, the Markets are open four to five days a week through October. Learn more.

Bridging Science and Policy in the Sustainable Development Era

This symposium, the first in a new series led by the Polson Institute that will explore the future of development, addresses the commitments of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to "free the human race from the tyranny of poverty and want and to heal and secure our planet." Asking the Right Questions: Green Building Workshop

In partnership with Significant Elements and Get Your GreenBack Tompkins, learn to fix your own broken lamps (May 17) and small appliances (May 24) with the assistance of the Ithaca Fixers Collective, local experts and volunteers, at this free workshop. Learn more

Current Municipal Initiatives

Ithaca Green Building Policy
The GBP project is studying energy and water efficiency standards for new construction, and ways the City and the Town of Ithaca could promote or mandate standards. Join the mailing list to learn of upcoming outreach events and other news.

EV Tompkins
We are helping to steer EV Tompkins, a NYSERDA-supported project, led by the County and consultant Energetics, to promote EV use. 11 public EV charging stations were recently facilitated by the project and a consumer awareness campaign will be conducted through 2018.

Energize NY PACE Financing
The Energize NY Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing service offers long-term low-cost financing for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
