FR DAVID WRITES

Greetings in Christ,

I write of an exciting opportunity intended to foster prayer in your life at home. Once upon a time it was custom and common for the priest to drop in. With the buzz of modern life, this practice fell by the wayside, to our detriment.

Many of you know that I stress the importance of daily prayer and reading of scripture. This can be difficult to actually do, so I want to help by coming to your house in the flesh to pray and encourage you in the Anglican devotion of Evening Prayer. I'll bring the prayer books, you clear a table and gather round. Kids are invited and encouraged to participate!

Evening Prayer is offered every Wednesday night at 6:30 pm at your place, for individuals and families alike. Please use the sign up to reserve a date and provide your address. I look forward to meeting and praying with you!

The link to the sign up is here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/409084aa5a92ea2fc1-evening

Blessings,
~ Fr. David

A WORD ABOUT PANHANDLERS.  Being a downtown church, from time to time, panhandlers may approach you after Mass, looking for money.  In such a case, it is best that you refer them to the clergy.  We have the ability to respond to their needs in an appropriate way, and oftentimes can identify those whom we have already helped.  St James’ gives generously to those in need in our community, but it is best that we do this in a systematic way.
