Hollywood Loves Rare Books

Why is it that Hollywood loves tales of book heists? Two new films set in the world of rare books, both crime thrillers, are coming soon to theaters nationwide.

Perhaps it's the "cash in the attic" idea that makes people think all old books are valuable, and filmmakers therefore think moviegoers will relate better to stories about book thefts than to thefts of say, gold bullion, plutonium, or casino profits? (Not that there's any shortage of those either...)
