Hello and happy spring!

As our team enjoys the many benefits of daylight savings (one extra hour of sunshine is truly life changing), we want to send y'all some film updates and find out how spring is treating you.
IN THE NEWS:

*Did you see NPR's coverage of LGBTQ students at Christian universities? They quite thoroughly tackle this ongoing struggle. We found it to be a fascinating read and recommend your checking it out here.

*Have you seen Love, Simon yet? It's a sweet, honest teen movie that will make you cry in the best possible way. Check out the Guardian's review accompanied by the film's trailer and then run to the theater to support #queerfilm!
FILM UPDATES:

*Mama Bears is the feature of an article written for Between the Lines, a Michigan-based LGBTQ news source! Check out the
article, which also interviews several hardworking mama bears.

*The Mama Bears team has more news on the social media front - we just launched an Instagram page! Please follow us and share widely! We're happy to report that our social media following has been growing: you can find us on Facebook, Twitter, and now Instagram @MamaBearsDoc.

*We have a mere three weeks left for our Indiegogo campaign! And we need your help to spread the word! Please shout out and share our campaign!

Our favorite aspect of the Indiegogo outreach has been all the fantastic videos mama bears (and their kids) have sent in to us. Click below to watch this video of Arielle S. to see what we mean.

CREW UPDATES:

*Daresha will be back in NYC on April 19th for a special screening of Chavela, hosted by the Brooklyn Museum. Tickets are currently on sale. Both she and co-director Catherine will be in attendance to speak about La Señora.

*Our director of photography, the talented Amy Bench, was recently thrilled to discover An Uncertain Future—a short film she served as director of photography for—won the 2018 award for Best Texas Short at South by Southwest. Congrats, Amy!

*Co-producer Laura hasn't won any awards lately, but she has recently taught her cat to sit, which, as you can imagine, is its own reward.

MAMA BEAR UPDATES:

*We are thrilled for mama bear Sara Cunningham, who is the guest on Jen Hatmaker's newest podcast! Listen to Sara's story as she discusses free mom hugs, Mama Bears, and more. This is one episode that's definitely worth a listen!

*Send us your updates, mamas! We'll be sure to add them to our next newsletter.
Thanks for reading and more soon!

xoxo,

Daresha & Laura
