Greetings!
Guess what we've been up to this month? Camp NaNoWriMo!! Quite a few of us are participating this time 'round and lots of new words and editing are getting done!
Um look, this introduction part is so boring and hard to write I figured we would just skip it this time and get to the good stuff, like...an excerpt from one of our Camp NaNo-ers! Kate's project, "Kiera", is getting an amazing revamp on draft two, and we can't wait to read it in book format soon!
(INSIDER INFO: "Kiera" connects to Paul Willis'sCrossroads in many ways!)
In this contemporary YA set in a morally-sliding future America, Kate deals with important issues from a Christian perspective and offers us an intense novel merged with the cute family life of 18-year-old MC Kiera.
Want an excerpt? Wish granted! ENJOY! :)
Kiera sprinted across the soft, synthetic grass to the covered porch and pulled open the glass door. She slid into a chair at the kitchen desk and waved her hand at the device screen.
The kitchen faucet turned off for a moment. “Back so soon, honey?”
“I think there’s a storm, Mom.”
“What kind?”
She didn’t answer as she paged through the apps, looking for the weather one. They were always being reordered on the family device.
“Kiera, what kind?” Mom came over with a wrinkled carrot in one hand and a peeler in the other. A crease showed above her glasses.
“Radiation,” Kiera sighed. “Really high levels.”
