26 Buyers

by

Chris Spivey

I had another agent call me recently.  During our conversation he asked me how business was.

I said what I always say in that I'm blessed more than I deserve and I'm thankful to work with each person I work with.

He responded by saying how busy he was and how he was working with 26 buyers.

26 buyers?

Out loud I said, "wow, congratulations", but on the inside I was saying, "26 buyers?  Really?  Is that even possible?".

If it is possible, I don't want any part of it.  I don't even how you keep track of all the properties for 26 buyers without missing something or dropping the ball on something important.

Buying a house is one of the biggest financial decisions that most people ever make.  I take that responsibility very seriously and wouldn't want to try to juggle that responsibility for 26 different buyers at one time.  Something is going to be missed.

That's one of the reasons why I limit the number of people I will work with at one time.  Another reason is because as I've stated many times, my business is based on relationships.  Relationships are the absolute foundation of everything I do in business.

If that agent is really trying to juggle 26 different buyers at the same time, how is he truly getting to know them?  And if he doesn't truly know them, how can he be sure he's putting their best interest first?  Seems like that approach is purely focused on the transactions and not on the actual people themselves.

If I took that approach, I'd miss out on getting to know my clients.  I'd miss out on all the new friendships and I'd miss out on learning the stories of their lives, stories of inspiration and perseverance.

If you receive my monthly letter, "Spivey's Stories From Real Estate & Beyond", then you just read about one of those stories.  A story of an amazing person that I met last year.  A story about Christen.

Christen is a single mom that didn't let anything stand in her way.  She put herself through Basic Law Enforcement Training to become a Sheriff's Deputy.  I had the honor of helping Christen find and buy her very first home.  A home for her and her family.  Her story is a true inspiration and an incredible example for her children.

If I was only focused on transactions and the next commission check, I would've missed getting to know an incredible family.

26 buyers at one time?  No thanks.  I'll take the relationships and lasting friendships instead.

Chris
